I am weaning off breast milk and adding in formula feedings. My baby used to poop 6-8 times a day and then he went almost 3 days without pooping. He finally pooped this morning after a little help with a home remedy. But now he hasn't pooped all day and is pushing and fussy like he has to poop.
Is this normal that formula can do this? He is on Infant Emfamil. Should I try a different brand? I'm not sure what to do.
any advice or help. thanks so much!
Re: Formula is making my 3-month-old constipated
Going every three days doesn't mean LO is constipated, like PP said, constipated is when they have small, or hard poop. But formula is very constipating, my older son was FF and was ALWAYS constipated. We went to a GI doctor for his reflex and he told me that formula takes so much more digesting than breastmilk, and is way more constipating. His solution, and the one that works to this day, is flax oil. It's Dr. Sears recommendation too, you just add a 1 teaspoon to their bottle everyday. It works like a charm for my older son. It's nice because it's actually good for them too.
