Today is the one day it would be awful to go into labor

The hospital is closing its doors tomorrow at 7 am and moving to a beautiful brand new facility. The midwife says that only those who are too far into their labor will be left behind in the old building with a skeleton staff. I don't want to give birth in an abandoned hospital!!! Doesn't feel likely to happen though.

    Understandable.  If I have Baby on Thursday this week, 6 of DH's 10 days off will have been days he'd have gotten off of work anyway.  Pretty jacked up.

    This happened in a town I recently moved from. They never used the old hospital building so now it just looks way creepy. If you've ever seen the movie autopsy it makes you want to stay way away from it.

    Ooh, I think I live where you live!  There was a sign at my midwife's office saying "If you are in labor at 6:59 a.m., go to the old hospital."  Yeah, right!  Who wouldn't hold off that extra minute?

    Well, I delivered at the old hospital, but it was nice enough.  I was almost hoping to go way overdue, though, to see the fancy new facilities.

    Good luck, and hope your baby stays inside for one more day!

    I hear you. Though not for today, for my due date. I'm due ON my oldest's 3rd birthday and that's the one day I'm hoping not to have this baby. I'm sure in the long run it wouldn't be the end of the world if they shared a birthday but I'd prefer if they didn't :)

    Of course, now that I keep saying that she's probably going to show up on the 29th anyway. 

    I hope you get to deliver in the new hospital! They are just starting to build a brand new maternity ward at our hospital up here but it won't be completed til next year or so.
