Pregnant after a Loss

Could I have smushed the baby?

Is this even possible? I was sitting on the floor sort of rolled over to one side cleaning up paint DH dripped on the floor and when I tried to get up I sort of bent at the side and got the worst pain. Now, she isn't moving. Is it possible to smush them? I feel like I am just having a crazy moment but I am imagining I bent and her head was there or something.

Edit: Please feel free to tell me I am being crazy. I fully accept this diagnosis.

I don't think you smushed the baby. But if you have a doppler around, you might get a sigh of relief if you feel that baby isn't moving. I know it calms me down whenever baby isn't moving as much.

  • I have actually thought about this myself, so if ur crazy then so am I! Lol I really hope it's not possible and that it's just some kind of coincidence. Everyone always says that they are very safe in there so I'm thinking and hoping not. I hope she is just being lazy in there and everything is ok :)

We got the doppler out and heard her. She was moving like crazy before that little incident so I guess that is where my real worry is at. She has punched a few times, but I am trying to sit here and do my kick counts and it isn't going well now.

  • I don't think your crazy ( i probably would have thought the same thing!) but I think that it is impossible to smush her. I am sure she is just fine in there snuggling in and relaxing a bit.

I asked this exact question with one of my pregnancies and I was told that if I wasn't seriously injured myself then there is no way the baby got hurt.  The baby may have gotten a bit upset at you, but everything should be completely fine.

  • I think you are being crazy:) And I mean that in the most loving PgAL way. Babies are resilient although she probably got a little cramped in there with your side bending, she is probably just napping and totally fine. If they are designed to handle labor, when they are REALLY smushed in there, then your bending is like nothing!

Hope she starts kicking again soon.

ETA: And by the way, I'm totally crazy, too. No doubt. :)

  • Most likely the baby smushed your insides =)  Like your intestines, bladder, stomach.  Which is why you felt pain.  She's well protected, but I would have panicked too.  Hang in there =)=)

  • You are so not crazy. I worry about this same sort of thing, but I'm also pretty sure it's not possible for us to smush the baby unless there's some serious abdominal trauma going on. *hugs* Sure she's fine!

  • I get really strong pains when I try to move sideways; like if I'm laying on my side and I try to scoot up in that position (like I used to do) or even just straighten up on my elbow. It's not the baby, it's my muscles being like "what the heck! we're under enough pressure here!" It's a sharp pain that echoes for a while and makes me very nervous, but it's def my body, not my little one.
