Is your LO saying mama and/or dada with purpose? Is he/she saying those words at all? I know this has been brought up before but not sure how long its been since we've discussed this.
My DD says da and dadadadada but rarely dada. And she has never uttered
the ma syllable. Obviously, she doesn't use dada (or mama) with purpose
although when I ask her "where's dada" she will look at DH. She can, however, say yes, but not with purpose. Everything else is point to an object and say da.
Clara says Mama, and sometimes its when shes looking at me or pointing at me, but she also says it at random times and to other people too. She has also said Papa but she will say that to me or to SO, not only him.
Yes he says mama and dada and knows who he is talking about. He also says dog, ball, bye, uh oh, up and duck and we know what he is trying to say. He does the sign for bottle when he wants one.

dd2 makes these sounds while she's babbling, but she doesn't have any intentional words yet. i'm convinced that her first word will be dd1's name.
Aww, that would be so special :-) I'm not concerned about the lack of purpose with her words but the fact that she hasn't said "ma" at all makes me worry a little. She can make all sorts of consonant sounds but not ma.
A does say "mama" all the time, but I'm not sure if there's really meaning behind it. She will say it when crawling towards me, but I'm not sure if it's more of an attention thing (she will sometimes yell "mama" also) or if she actually knows I am mama. She occasionally says "dada" and "papa" but definitely not with purpose.
The only word she's working on is "cat". She says something that sounds sort of like "cat" or sometimes makes the "meow" sound. This, I'm pretty confident, she says with purpose because it's always the same and it's when she sees or is trying to chase down one of the cats.
Not yet. He says both mamama and dadada a ton but it doesn't seem with purpose yet. Occasionally it seems like he says one or the other in reference to us but I don't know for sure yet so I'm not counting it.

If you're worried about her making the sound, I'd start repeating it to her over and over and over again until you almost can't take it anymore. And if she still doesn't catch onto it after awhile, talk to your pedi about it. If she's saying a lot of other sounds, I wouldn't be surprised if she can make the "ma" and just chooses not to.
She says both as babble and with a purpose. I know that sounds weird, but long strings of mamama and dadada when she's babbling are common. But, she will also point to my H and say "dada," and she just recently started reaching her arms out to me and saying "mama." If we ask her, "where's dada?" or "where's mama?", she points to the right person. So, not every time that syllable is uttered is it meaningful, but she does associate the syllables with us, and they are often directed at us.
It probably sounds like I'm turning babble into something it's not, but there is a distinct difference between when she's babbling "ma" and "da" and saying it with a purpose. I promise.
DS says mama and dada but with no purpose. When you say where's mom/dad he knows where we are though and will point/look or reach for us. He also knows where's the dog too.
So far he's said mom, mama, dada, dog, baby, and.... Idk. He's really trying to say grandma and mirror for some reason lol. It's seriously THE cutest thing when he says baby. Hehehehe

Sylvia was like that. She went through a phase where she said "ma" only when she was mad, then she never seemed to make the sound until she started actually saying "Mama". She scaled back her babbling a lot when she was working on crawling and pulling to stand.
To answer the original question- yes, she says "Mama" and "Dada". She said Dada first, so we say MH won, ha ha.
She has been saying Mama for a long time and I think it has purpose now. She knows who dada is and does say it but she says it at random too so I don't think it's with real purpose yet.
V says Dada with purpose. He has been more consistent with this lately when DH walks in the room or if he wants DH to turn around and look at him. He doesn't say mama. He rarely even makes an "m" sound.
DS knows who Daddy is and says "dada" with purpose (he also says it randomly too). He only just started saying the "m" sound, but not at me. He is just starting to recognize me if DH asks him to "find Mommy".
He also says "ba" (bottle). That is definitely with purpose. And he's started to say "uh uh" (uh oh! when he drops something). And it seems like he means a lot of the rest of what he says, but we have no clue what he's saying! He does try to repeat what we say a lot but most of it comes out with a "g" sound.

Pretty much this. M seems to say dada (or just da, or dadadada) more to DH and the variations of mama more to me, but she also says da during the day when DH isn't home- and I'm not convinced that it isn't just us hearing what we want to hear, kwim?

Nope. She calls everyone and everything dadadada. She sometimes says something like mama when she's crying but not consistently and I don't think it's on purpose.

Ok I feel better now :-) To make myself feel better, we started learning "duck" because its the only syllable she wants to use right now. So dog/dad/duck/done sound the same when she says them but I'm pretending she knows the difference
