FTM and hip pain

I am a FTM and I have a dr appointment on Tuesday but I lurk and sometimes post on the bump so I figured I would ask and see if anyone had similar symptoms. I've been having hip pain when I lay on my sides and I find myself on my back a lot. I was curious if anyone knows what's causing the hips pains? Or if anyone has been experiencing this?

Thank you!

Re: FTM and hip pain

  • I have hip pain too.. I think it is a normal part of pregnancy..

  • Totally normal because you have an expanding uterus and hormones softening joints up. Yoga helped me tons.

  • ditto on the yoga, but if you're comfortable on your back, then sleep on your back. I slept on my back with the OK of my doctor until a few weeks ago when it finally just wasn't comfortable for me anymore.  You'll get uncomfortable or notice negative effects long before it has any effect on the baby.

  • Yep, totally normal. Your joints are softening and hips are expanding. I sleep with a thick pillow between my knees to help. It's annoying for the nights when I toss and turn, but it's what I've found to be most effective.

  • Normal.

I had it really bad with my first - but now that my body is all stretched out it's not as bad w/ my third.

Some things you can do.  Stretches, physical therapy, lay on a pillow or on a couch w/ your hip between the cushions.  Put two pillows down and lay on them w/ your hip in between.  Lay more on your butt then hip.  Put a pillow between your legs too - to keep your hips spread.

     Good luck!

  • I would say it is normal. I've been having it quite a bit too, during the night if I stay on one side for too long. I woke up yesterday morning and the pain actually took my breath away it hurt so much.

Yep.  Your hips actually spread some during pregnancy.

  • Yep, I experience the exact same thing. Sometimes having a pillow between my hips helps, and sometimes it's just remembering to straighten up my legs (they naturally want to bend when I lie on my side).

  • Chiropractor totally helped me with this, I have zero pain now and go once a week.
