  No need to give water. That's another old school idea. In fact, too much water can lead to failure to thrive because is makes them not hungry. Most people start offering a sippy with water when they start solids.

  I live in florida where it's summer most of the year and this is incorrect. I would worry about any pediatrician that told you this since it can cause problems. They get all the fluid they need from formula and/or breastmilk. Both are made up of water.
