I guess I belong here. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I am pregnant, but I've been hesitant to get too excited. I have my first doctor's appointment on Monday, so it's finally starting to feel more real.
Anyway, what is your morning sickness like? I've been queasy for 3 weeks, but I've not thrown up. I don't particularly want to throw up, but I'm curious if that's normal.
Re: Intro + morning sickness question
Congrats!
No morning sickness here yet, but I didn't have it at all during my last pregnancy. You might be one of the lucky ones! Enjoy it
Welcome and congratulations!
I started getting queezy around when I got my BFP a week and a half ago. Yesterday I threw up for the first time. Typically mine is worst between ~9pm and ~9am give or take a couple hours.
Morning sickness completely varies between pregnancies, some women never have it, others are incredibly sick.

Queasy counts. That's where my morning sickness is if I keep it under control. To keep it under control, I eat as soon as I wake up in the morning. This is really hard for me, because I usually don't eat breakfast until and hour or so after waking. Yesterday I set my alarm for 5:30 am so I could shower, but I went to the bathroom, and decided my hair was decent enough to skip a washing. I reset my alarm for 6, and laid back down. I couldn't even make it to 6 because the nausea started to come. I sat down to have my normal morning sickness avoidance snack, but I was fighting the nausea for the rest of the morning.
If I'm going to avoid nausea, my best bet is after I wake, to use the bathroom, wash my hands, and grab some saltines and a cup of sprite (soda calms my tummy, but others find carbonation makes them feel worse). I give myself 15-20 minutes to wake and slowly eat some saltines and wash them down with Sprite. Then I grab a real breakfast later that morning. I try to get something in my stomach every two hours. For me, water isn't good enough. It's swooshy in my tummy and accentuates the ms without food. So, a handful of almonds, a cheese stick, a box of raisins, these are quick snack items I bring with me to work to get me to lunch and the end of the day.
Thanks!! This is basically how I feel. I swear I eat 3 times before lunch just to function.
Congrats and welcome! I hope your apptmt Monday goes well!
I haven't had m/s so far, so I'm no help there.

For me morning sickness is still relatively new, it just started at 6.5 weeks. For the most part its just a sudden queasyness that comes on if my stomach is too empty, something smells funky, or just randomly. I did wake up the other morning at 5am throwing up for about 5 hours due to morning sickness - but since then I haven't thrown up.
I think being queasy is perfectly normal, in fact I read in an article that approximately only 30% of pregnant women actually vomit due to morning sickness. Now - whether or not those numbers are true are not - I don't know. But - IMO I think it's pretty normal.

I have no m/s yet...but I'm sure just feeling like you have to is normal enough...is there really a normal in pregnancy?!?

I'm the same as you. I've been so nauseous that I gag when I smell garlic or see people eating really flavorful foods, but I haven't actually thrown up yet. This is the way it was with my last pregnancy. I didn't actually throw up until the day of my 12 week ultrasound appointment, but then I threw up daily for the next three months. Hopefully with this pregnancy I'll stop feeling sick at 12 weeks like a normal person!

congrats, welcome, and you're totally "normal"!
bearkatjen--that's great advice. i may have to try the eating right when i wake up. i usually don't eat breakfast for at least an hour after waking up.
i hadn't heard these percentages about the women that don't throw up. i've always thought though, that if you're queasy/nauseous, that totally counts as m/s.

I started getting queasy at week 5, but it never got to the point of throwing up. That is until yesterday. I hate hate hate throwing up so I was fighting it, but I felt so much better after I let myself empty my stomach. Nothing helped yesterday, small meals, etc. But, prior to that keeping something in my stomach kept the nausea to a minimum.
Welcome!
My m/s has mainly been a queasy feeling, which gets worse when I'm hungry/tired/stressed. I've been ok the last several days, and I'm on vacation, so I think the tired and stressed stuff really makes it worse. Sipping lemon water has really helped, and eating something even when I feel disgusting tends to make me feel a little better. Even if it doesn't help, it rarely makes me feel worse.

This time around its only been nausea so far. Last pregnancy it all started around week 8 and lasted until week 10/11. Full on nausea, throwing up, couldn't do much of anything all day. It was terrible. Hope it's not as bad this time around. It's very normal to have just nausea & not get physically sick.
