FTM Question about labor

For the last hour I've been getting a pain every 5 minutes or so.  It doesn't last very long though so I know I'm not in active labor or anything like that.  I'm only feeling the pain on my right side though.  Its down very low about where my leg bends near my crotch.  Are these light contractions starting?  Are they just BH?  Is it normal to only have the pain on one side?  Sorry to sound so dumb about all this.  I keep hearing you'll know when you're in labor.  I just want to know if this could possibly be the start of something.

    Sounds like prelabor. Contractions are stronger than BH, but aren't labor. Labor can still be days or weeks off. They do, however, efface and dilate you. Another wonderful term is False labor, but they're moving away from that because there's nothing false about what you feel.
