I was really surprised to see my first two stretch marks. I didn't have any with DS, but I got my first two this week. I was kind of excited. I am going to name them Harriet and Horrace. I don't know why I never got them before. I think it's genetic and my skin is rubbery.
Also, my belly button, which didn't pop with DS is now sticking out a bit.
Some women might get upset about these things, but my career as a swim suit model never did take off (ha ha) so it's not like my income depends on it. It also just shows, I'm a mom.
I'll get back in shape once LO arrives, but at the end of the day, I'll take the experience over my body staying the same any day.
Any surprises for you ladies this late in the game?
Re: First stretch marks at 35 weeks!
I think mine are kinda cute in a silly way. My tummy is polka-dotted. My whole family has fair, soft skin so we get stretch marks really easily. I thought Id be "stars and stripes'in it" with mine, but nope. Just little pink dots.
This has been my easiest trimester by far. I dont get it.
Yeah, they don't bother me. I think it's unrealistic for women to get through pregnancy with their bodies and dignity intact. LOL.
I am surprised, but my belly is so much bigger this time due to a bigger baby and more amniotic fluid, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
Whatever you ladies are smoking...please send some my way.
My stretch marks are hideous, deep and black. They got worse AFTER DD was born. I think before that, they were stretched out so you couldn't see how bad they were. And they are on my upper thighs, so I can probably never where a normal bathing suit again. I'm stuck with skirted suits for the rest of my life. I love being a Mom and I don't even mind the little Mom pooch, but I could live without the stretch marks.
I will trade you your "little mom pooch" for my two strech marks. I've had a little "mom" pooch since way before I was a mom, like since I was 14. I guess life is a trade off and we always want what we don't have.
Haha, I agree! I got them on my stomach quite bad with DS (and right at the very end too). They looked SO much worse post-partum. They were deep, wide, and dark dark purple. It was kind of shocking. I remember showing a group of my (single and child-less) friends about 4 weeks post partum and they all gasped audibly. And I too got them on my upper thighs, which means even in a one piece swim suit, my stretchies are visible
But, I'm on LO #3 now and I'm pretty much over it
I gain weight in my tummy. As the bottom of my belly isnt rock hard, I think Im going to have a rude awakening when lo's born. Hes hiding it right now.
This is part of why I like being pregnant, there is a reason for the pooch! I carry all of my weight in my tummy, even when I am at my thinnest. No butt, scrawny legs and all gut! It's really not so bad postpartum, you still look 5 months pregnant for a week or two, but it does go back down. Maybe my belly was already stretched out and that is why I had never gotten stretch marks.
BTW- just realized I butchered the word stretch several times in my original post...oh well.
LOL, this!
While you're at it, you want to name mine too? I'm guessing I've got a herd of around 50+
