Trouble TTC

First Round of Clomid

I havent posted much on here, Just lurking alot but I figured a good time to come out would be now.  I am starting my first round of clomid tomorrow.  I am excited but a little nervous about all the side effects that I hear about.  Does anyone have any good advice for clomid and what you experienced?  The docs and labels only tell so much.

Thanks

My only advice is take it at night - and the same time every night. I usually take mine around 9, that way you sleep through any side effects. I experienced some hot flashes and headaches, but overall nothing horrible. Good luck!!

I was really terrified last cycle when I started Clomid, but in all honesty, it was just a few night sweats/nights of bad sleep.  Totally managable!  Good luck!

  • I always took mine in the morning and I didn't really have any bad side effects during the day. I did have some hot flashes and I gained about 10 pounds while on it, but that was it. Good luck!

  • I took mine at night to avoid the side effects. But it didn't work I would wake up drenched in sweat from the hot flashes. But I did my second round this month and I had heachaches but not hot flashes.

Oh and my b!tchiness was kicked up about 3 notches. Had to warn my DH and self check.

  • I havn't found Clomid all that bad.  Metformin was way worse for me.  I do have headaches that are not terrible.  The worst are the crazy emotions, I was crying over everything, and I am not a cryer. Other than that, it was not bad.  I took mine at night also.

Clomid wasn't that bad for me either... I was super tired (like, falling asleep on the couch tired) during the time I was taking it and the nurse said that was rare but she had heard it before.  I had low grade headaches through most of the 5 days with the 5th day being the worst headaches, but even then, they weren't unbearable.  I took mine at night!

This was also my experience. I also noticed the Clomid made me very sleepy, which wasn't a bad thing in my case. Good luck!

This has also been my experience.  Definitely take it at night so that you don't notice the side effects too much.

  • I started my first round of Clomid on Wednesday.  I had the night sweats the first night, but nothing last night.  My Rx actually says to take at bedtime.

I've been more tired, but I have been traveling so i'm not sure if im tired from that or the pills.  Other than that i've felt great.

    GL & welcome!

  • I ditto the responses about taking it at night. FWIW, not everyone will experience side effects. I'm on my 2nd cycle at the 50 dosage, and I haven't had side effects from it.

  • I just took my first round, and the only side effect I had was being a little more emotional. I cried (like, sobbed) at things that I normally would have only gotten a little teary-eyed over, and I missed my DH way more than I thought I would when he was gone on a camping trip all weekend. I was expecting to have worse side effects.
