Baby Benjamin was born Thurs at 12:22 after 31 hours of labor! I had an induction scheduled for Wed night and had been hoping he would make his own way into this world and boy did he! Monday at my appt I had my membranes swept for the third time. The dr. didn't think it would work at all since she didn't have any blood on her fingers or anything. Tuesday morning I had insane amounts of mucus all day and then by night back contractions started! They were timeable but I didn't think much of it since I had been feeling it on and off for a week. By 12 they were every 2-3 minutes apart and very painful. So it was time! Went straight to our birthing suite. When I was checked I was only 3cm at 10:00 she broke my water and noticed meconium in the water.
At 1:30 I was 8cm and she thought for sure I would be pushing soon. WELL not the case, I'll spare the gory details of constantly getting sick and pain but finally at 10:00pm I was 10cm. I pushed for a loooong 2 1/2 hrs and finally my big boy came out, 8lbs 12oz 22" long! He went into shock immediatly when he came out and I was so scared. He wasn't crying at all and his heart rate was falling. It took NICU a half hour to get him to cry and stabalize his heartbeat...the pushing was probably the worst part and I had to have an episotomy and was stiched up for over an hour. He came out very swollen and major cone head ha but the swelling should go down soon.
I was so nervous about being a good nurser but Ben has been doing an awesome job..he is quite the little piggy...last night they had to take him back to the NICU and he has been there since due to his lungs being swollen from the meconium. It hasn't affected his eating habits but takes him longer to digest and clear his lungs out so we are working on that.
It was a looong labor but the end result makes all the pain well worth it. We are completly in love with this little man
Congratulations to all the births this week and the ones to come!!

Re: Team Green turned Team Blue!!
