Does loosing your mucus plug mean you are dilated??

This is probably a stupid question I am sure, and I was not calling my dr to ask lol. I have not been dilated at all an very postierior. I finally lost my mucus plug today, and I did some searching and saw conflicting sites saying loosing your plug means you have dialated some, even If it is not a lot, but saw other sites says it doesn't mean for sure you have dilated at all. Anyone know the correct answer to this?

I think the correct answer is that it can mean you are dilated or that you aren't. I am leaning more towards you can lose your MP without being dilated since in one of my childbirth classes they mentioned you can lose your MP earlier on and it can grow back.

I think PP is right. I know that you can be dilated and still not loss it, too... mucus plug mysteries!

Agreed that it can mean you are or arent dilated.

I was at 1cm with my daughter at like 37 weeks. Opted to not get checked at 38 weeks, but lost my mucus plug that week. At 39 weeks I was checked again and still at 1cm. So the loss of the plug did not change anything in my case.

I ended up delivering my DD a few days shy of my due date.
