Measuring way ahead!

So this morning I had a growth ultrasound to see how big our LO is.  At 32 weeks he was 5 lbs so I was very anxious to see what he is now.  I'm 36 weeks 4 days and he was 7lbs 2oz.  I thought that didn't sound too bad until the end when she said that after doing all the measurements on him that he overall is measuring to be 39 weeks 6 days!!! She asked me if they were unsure of the due date and I told her yes that at my first ultrasound they said I was between 8 and 11 weeks.  I've had problems with my period my whole life so I had no clue when my last one was and it was all kind of a guessing game.  She said his head in particular was measuring at 40 weeks 3 days!! She also said his head is about as far down as it can get before actually coming out! This all came as a huge surprise and now I'm super anxious.  I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday and I'm so anxious to see what he has to say now!!!

Re: Measuring way ahead!

  • Speaking from recent experience u/s this late in the game can be very innacurate. U/S's in the 1st tri are more reliable with dating. I recently had 2 u/s's that were one week apart and the u/s tech from the first one did the measurements wrong and was almost 2lbs off on weight. Just something to keep in mind :)

  • Oh wow!

I've had 2 growth ultra sounds and the baby has been so far head down that it has been hard for the techs to get accurate measurements - and it's been like this since the start of April. I used to think it was because LO was going to arrive early but since it's been 7 weeks of this I figure it's just the way I'm going to finish the pregnancy.

Are you experiencing public bone pain (kinda like getting kicked in the lady-bits every time you move)?

  • Yeah for the past week I've had so much pressure and I feel like my lady parts are bruised.  My doc said sometimes you start to feel that as your cervix thins but he doesn't start doing checks until 38 weeks.
  • That feeling really sucks, and not much helps. Sleeping with a pillow between your knees helps, as does avoiding things like stairs or anything that requires a wider stance. Basically, keeping your legs together is the best thing right now.
