Trouble TTC

Iui 3 weeks ago, no AF but lots of bfn's

Hello ladies

I have not been on here in years but came for some insight.  I had my daughter 2 1/2 years ago after 3 iui's.  Now DH and I  are trying for baby #2.  We did our second Iui 3 weeks ago today on April 27th.  Since my daughter was born I have been on a 28 to 29 day cycle.  Last Wednesday at 11 dpiui I got a very faint  line on an at home pregnancy test.  I waited 2 days and tested again, fully expecting a darker line and I got a bfn, and several more since then.  This Wednesday I made the dr take blood, they said the pregnancy test was negative, but my progesterone was still high, that is why I didn't get my period.  Today is CD34 and still no AF.  I am so confused as to what is going on.  Could I have had a chemical pregnany?  Would the drs be able to tell if that is what it was? Doesn't your progesterone stay up when you are pregnant?  I don't know whee to put my thoughts, ya know. I either want a BFP or AF, not this limbo state I am in.  Thoughts?? Has anyone experienced this before?

  • It may have been a chemical but I'm not sure, I'm sorry.  I'm guessing you're not pregnant though.  I'd wait a week and then call the doctor again.

  • Did you use a trigger shot?  That could have been what the line was from.  If you didn't - then its likely a c/p.

I had one cycle where it took 18dpIUI to get AF - it was really annoying to wait that long.

I would wait a few more days and then ask about being put on provera to induce a period - maybe you didn't actually ovulate.    It's so annoying when our bodies do not cooperate!!

  • Could have been a c/p, could have been the trigger if you had one. My trigger showed for about 12-13 days past IUI. Are you being monitored? Did you have a trigger?

My first IUI took forever to get my period. Weeks went by with nothing. I was told it was possible I had a cyst that was still producing hormones, but it turned out to be a rare second ovulation two weeks or so after the first. They did b/w several times and an ultrasound to try and figure out what was going on.

I think it is likely you have a cyst, which your doctor should be able to diagnose and treat rather easily.

  • I did do the trigger shot.  And they did an ultrasound a well as bloodwork to confirm there were follicles. But the trigger shot was 14 days before I got the faint line.

  • Interesting you mention a cyst, because when I had the u/s to check for follicles he measured something and said it must be a cyst, but they said that the bloodwork showed it was actually a follicle.  I measured 34 if I remember correctly.  He said it had to be a cyst because it was too big to be a follicle, but they said the bloodwork said differently.
  • That's the line where it could have been either and if you didn't test out your trigger, you'll never know. I still get trigger lines at 11dpo and that's 13 days after the shot. Some women metabolize slower.

Call your RE and see if you can get a beta, a p4, and an u/s to check for progesterone producing cysts.

My trigger was showing up 14-15 days later, faintly, both times. It was maddening.

My understanding is that sometimes the egg doesn't release and that forms a cyst, and sometimes the corpus luteum just doesn't dissolve when it is supposed to, also forming a cyst. Either way, I believe the cysts can show up after ovulation, which means they wouldn't have been able to tell at the monitoring. That is why mine had me come in for another ultrasound after my period was late.
