s/o children's music..bday party music?

if you're playing background music what are you playing? We'll have a lot of little kids (like 15ish) at ours, so I was planning to do kid's music on pandora or a cd that we have from school (mostly original songs, but it is kid's music). But with all the hate I'm thinking maybe I don't want to drive all the other parents bonkers :)

I'm probably just going to turn on country on the radio. There will be kids at DS's party, but I don't want to listen to kids music the whole time. County is pretty neutral and I'm a fan.

For a party I'd probably just play top 40 music. The kids will probably be too busy playing to even listen to the music and notice it's on.

  • I have no problem with the kids music, but since it's more of a family thing, I was thinking regular music (probably country).  I think the activities will be in the yard, so only the older crowd will be inside or on the porch, anyway.

I'm telling DH's cousin oldest kid  to bring her ipod and she's in charge of music.   She's a freshman in high school and listens to top 40.   She has younger sisters(one is still in elementary school) and I know she will basically have radio Disney type songs

  • we have a luau party every summer, so I have a playlist on my iPod that has regular, popular music on it, but I only have the songs on there that are clean/edited versions :)  so that will be our kid-friendly music for the bday party as well.

lol .... I guess I should say that IMO it's more kid-friendly than some of the other stuff on the radio nowadays.

I was just kidding :)  We listen to country all the time.  I agree... it's MUCH more kid-friendly than say Carter IV.

  • I hadn't even thought about this!  Man, I have no idea what we'll do.  We don't have any top-40 type music in iTunes, so I may need DH just to make a playlist of clean songs from our iTunes library.  That or we'll pull up a top-40 or AC station on Pandora/spotify to stream.

I would be fine with country because I don't mind it, but DH is not a fan!  He may even cringe at the idea of top-40 and he'll put so many disclaimers like no Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc.  And I'd be fine with that.  Neither of us like overly pop music.  (Though I still love Britney, and have a music crush on Flo Rida!)
