strange pain and other question

So the past three days I have had pain between my legs. It almost feels like someone kicked me down there--like a bruised feeling. I was wondering if maybe this is the baby dropping and just putting pressure in new places? Could this be the case or when the baby drops does it happen all at once? I feel alright otherwise, just a little achey in my back.

My second question is would you travel 1.5 - 2 hours away when you are close to 37 weeks pregnant? My husband's grandmother passed away and they are having her funeral on Saturday. We made plans two weeks ago and went and visited her since I was still feeling good and we knew the end was near.  I would just tell my husband to go without me, but he has been working Monday-Thursday in NYC (we live in TX) for the past 6 weeks, so we have little time to spend together lately and I would hate to spend all day Saturday away from him. I also feel bad asking him not to go, although he has said that he will stay home if I am still not feeling 100%...WWYD?

Thanks for everyone's help as usual!

Re: strange pain and other question

  • I have the same pain sometimes. My doc assures me that its normal. just bring it up to him/her at your next appt.

If you are comfortable being in the car that long and you don't have to drive, it should be ok. You can always turn around and come home if you start to feel bad.

PS So sorry for the loss of your husband's grandmother. :(

  • I've had similar pain. It's like a weird pressure down there. If you are worried, call your OB and ask what they think.

I'm sorry about your H's grandmother. I would make the trip for the funeral. But if you really don't feel well, I would encourage H to go by himself. He might regret not going later.

  • Every once in awhile I have that pain too. I'm not too worried about it though.

Sorry about your H's grandma. I would go, it's not that far away so you could easily come back if you needed to. I'll be 36 weeks when I go to my cousin's graduation party 2 1/2 hours away

  • I would totally go.  That is not that far away and if you feel something starting you could head home very easy.  My DH would need to say goodbye to his grandparents and I would rather be there with my DH than home alone.
