I don't know why but I am so paranoid about BC messing with my supply!
Have any of you used the mini-pill or Mirena while nursing? Did it affect your supply? How was your experience with it in general?
Pre-preg I was on Yaz for many years and never had any issues so I know my body doesn't have any weird side effects from hormones.
Please, enlighten me!
Re: Anyone taking the Mini-Pill or using Mirena?
I got Mirena when my son was three months old.
I did not notice a supply issue, but I did have one breast that started producing less and appeared smaller. My LC said it was probably a latch issue and that our technique had slacked off a bit. It did freak me out, though.
I will warn you - I was on combination BCP for 15 years, with no side effects. I was even on Progesterone through my first trimester of pregnancy (Prometrium) and had no issue. For some reason, though, with Mirena, I had a fair amount of nausea for about three weeks. So odd.
I am still glad I got it - after about a month the spotting and cramping finally stopped and now I don't think about it, but just know you can have side effects even though it's not a systemic drug the way an oral one is.
