tilted uterus

okay so i got told by the tech during my NT scan that my uterus is tipped backword....anyone else have this or heard of it and know anything...Does it matter?  i asked her and she said it was just the way I was made...duh.  But will it effect the pregnancy or birth?

Re: tilted uterus

  • Mine was tilted backward for the first couple of months and caused a lot of lower back pain until it grew up and out of my pelvis. My OB said it was growing toward my back instead of up and putting a lot of pressure on my spine. If mine was tilted before this, it didn't cause any issues with my first pregnancy or delivery.

I have one but didn't even know until I had a m/c when DD was 14 months old. It never came up during my pregnancy!?! So I guess it really doesn't matter.

I have this. It's not really a big deal and won't affect the birth. It may even correct itself as the baby grows and gets into position. The only thing is it may cause you more back pain or back labor. No need for concern. I've had this forever. Mine is severe and it causes problems with certain tampons and even makes sex more painful but if  you never noticed a problem before you probably won't notice one now. : ) Good luck!
  • I have this.  My OB said it could have been the reason why it took some time for us to get pregnant.  Shouldn't have any affect in giving birth though.

  • Mine was tilted. The dating u/s tech at 10 weeks told me. It was just had to get clear pics. at my NT scan at 13 weeks it had already moved forward. I heard it can just make getting pregnant a little harder. I didn't seem to have an issue.. only took 4 cycles with 2 cycles that we were really trying with the timing.

  • prior to PG I was told mine tilted left, but that it will likely move into the right place once I was pregnant.  No one has said anything about tilting in any of my prenatal appointments not that I am pregnant, so i'm guessing it isn't a major problem.

  • Mine is tilted. It wasn't really a concern during my first pregnancy. I don't think it creates any issues.

  •  I have the same problem. I have been having some killer lower back pain but other than that I was told it would work itself out and wouldn't hurt the baby. :) GL!

  • My sister has this and she carried her baby to term. She did have a c/s, but bc the baby was breech.
  • I have this as well, but it had corrected itself by 12 weeks. The only issue that it caused me so far was that before it changed positions, it sometimes would block my bladder, so I had to get cathetered twice. Now that it's fixed...it's not a problem anymore.
  • thanks so much ladies.  I really appreciate it.  Maybe this is why it took us a year to get pg..  thanks so much
