3rd Trimester

What's the lastest you'd feel comfortable moving?

BG - DH and I are living apart due to work.  To keep down on commute, gas & toll he lives with his folks 5 nights a week, weekends with DD & I 2 hrs away (2 hrs on weekends days, 4 hrs on work days). The ILs are in the process of trying to buy a short sale that they'd rent to us, now just waiting to hear from the bank.  We've looked at apartments as a temp option but short term leases are beyond expensive.  We are trying to work something out that fits in our budget and waiting times.

How late is too late to move in your opinion.  I'm thinking 36 wks.  Would you wait longer?

If it matters, this is my 2nd, DD was a very delivery quick after I had to be induced, both of our parents live 2 hrs away and all I have near by to help and/or take DD are my grandparents-in-law who are in their early 80s (active people).

  • I'm moving next weekend.  I'll be 38w pregnant.  However, we have a lot of help and we're only moving about 5 miles away.

I'm also waiting for a short sale to go through. Even though renting is expensive you may have to start looking soon bc they're known to take up to 5-8 months in some cases. I've been waiting since the middle of April most likely looking to rent in the beginning of July if no news.
  • I purchased a short sale earlier this month. It took six plus months, and there was only one lender involved. I would suggest maybe finding a 6 month lease.

  • We'd be moving 2 hrs away.  I won't physically be moving but I won't have an established Dr or hospital at the new town at this time.

We moved when I was 36 weeks pregnant with ds. We hired movers so it wasn't really a big deal.

  • We just moved at 6 months pregnant, and we may move again before I give birth...I'd have no issues moving up until around 38 weeks pregnant because I tend to deliver late (2 weeks or so) so I'd want to have at least a little time to settle in before baby's birth.

I am thinking I am going to be between 34 and 36 weeks when we move.  I won't really be doing anything but its a little stressful.

  • It completely depends on how you're feeling, but I was moving into a house, from an apartment, at 38 weeks and I don't exactly recommend it It was too hard to actually move things. The desire was there, but I wasn't physically able to do much. Plus bringing a baby home to that was incredibly stressful. If you don't have to move, don't!

We're moving when I'm 38 weeks. I'm totally not comfortable with it because DS2 was born before that and I'm paranoid that I will go into labor as we are moving if I haven't had the baby before then.
  • I'm waiting on word from my lender which will allow us to close on a house. Closing was supposed to be this week and we have asked for an extension. Therefore, I anticipate closing sometime next week. I should be about 36 weeks. Physically I'm incapable of lifting anything or doing much of the moving. I'll be getting help. Therefore, I don't see a reason why I wouldn't move. I don't expect to have everything unpacked before the baby gets here but I'd rather move beforehand than after when I'm exhausted and can't even supervise whats going on.
  • We just moved last week.  I was 32 weeks.

We are also moving when I'm 38 weeks. I've been packing for a month already, knowing that the further along I get the harder it will be to pack. I am almost done with everything off the walls/bookshelves/dishes we rarely use ect... We have a lot of family and friends helping us haul everything into the truck and pleanty of great ladies from our church will help me unpack and set up the nursery at the new place.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only pregnant lady moving so close to my due date!
