Yesterday was my birthday. I did mention it to a student a few months back when he asked me when it was (he is 7, so I did not expect him to remember it). We had our 2nd grade class play and the parents attended. The play was hilarious and a smash success (meaning only one person forgot their lines and only one girl accidentally flashed her underpants on stage).
Afterwards we had a little party and my students all brought me surprise birthday/baby presents! I work in a high poverty school so I know that some of the families really had to save or go out of their way to give me these gifts.
It was really wonderful. I haven't really let myself feel excited or happy about the baby-- I have been so freaked out by pregnancy-- and for the first time, I feel so lucky and I am so excited to meet our little girl in just TWO WEEKS. Just wanted to put that positivity and gratitude out there.
Cheese alert!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry
Re: something good
Aw that was so sweet of your students and their families. I love stories like this. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome!! I posted a few weeks ago that my class (3rd grade) threw me a surprise shower as well. It was so cute and something I'll definitely remember forever, as I'm sure you will too.
Happy Happy Birthday!!:)
How wonderful! You must have really made a difference in their lives for them to take the time and effort and funds to show how much you mean to them. The effort that they took- you must really touch a lot of lives and I am sure they are all going to miss you very much.
Happy belated birthday!
