Not sure if anyone remembers, but I lost my job very unexpectedly at the end of January. I've been looking like crazy since, with not a lot of success, including having a great interview that got a "let's move forward with this" call back, and then never hearing from the guy again. But a few weeks ago I got a random email asking if I was interested in an opportunity in the Detroit area. I said yes, and after 2 interviews, was offered the position! They got forwarded my resume by an office I had cold-called and sent it to. I started this week, and so far so good! I have a great schedule, 9-3:30 M, T, W, so you can't beat that. Only downside is that it's about 45 miles away... (Ironically, only 2 miles from where DH works, also 45 miles from home. Ugh.) So, things are looking up! They don't even mind that I'm pg

Yay! Congrats. I totally remember that you've been looking, and I'm so glad you found something.
What are you going to be able to do for maternity leave?
I'm still holding out for 12 weeks, which I think I'll get. I've also offered to maybe start coming in 1-2 days per week around 9-10 weeks depending on how things are going. My new boss is in the process of trying to adopt, and she'll take 12 weeks when/if they get their little girl, so she's being pretty cool about it.
We've talked about it, but we own our house down here, and we LOVE our dc. So I think our options are going to be either DH gets a job closer to home so only one of us is making that drive, or if we decide to move we MOVE. Like, far away from Detroit and closer to home! We'll see how things go, I guess.

It's hard to leave when you own a house AND find a DC you LOVE. There's nothing like knowing your child is safe when you're at work. Best of luck with it all!

That's awesome!
And...where is "home" for you guys? DH and I are both misplaced Michiganders...are you from MI?

I can't believe I forgot to mention this! I'm an Audiologist, and am joinning a private practice. I'll be dealing mostly with the hearing impaired population, which is what I love, and not having to do any vestibular testing, which I don't. Seems like a good fit so far, so I'm cautiously optimistic!
I knew you were an AuD--so glad that you've found a job with the population you work with! Isn't it nice when things just fall into place like that? Happy for you!
Home is the Upper Penninsula of MI/Northern WI for us. I'd love to end up closer to my family. We're in the Detroit area for now though. Where are you guys from?
Thanks so much everyone!!! All of your support throughout this has really meant a lot.
I know! And it feels like it never happens, so when it does it's just awesome. And thanks
we're both from SE Michigan...me - Ann Arbor area, DH - Monroe/Toledo OH area.
We moved to MD for jobs since the MI job market is pretty tough! (....and 8 years later, we're still here!)
