At my 38 week appointment today the doctor asked me if my mom's babies were on time - I told her my brother was over a week late. (I was a scheduled c-section). She said to be prepared to go late then. In her family, all the women were late. So I'm curious, for those of you who have already had babies - how has the timing compared to your mothers' timing?
Re: If my mom's babies were late, will my baby be late?
My sister was ontime and I was 2 weeks early (tried to come even earlier but they delayed it with drugs/bedrest).
I went 4 days late.
I was my mom's first baby and was 1 week late. I seem to be following her footsteps as I am just overdue and as of my appointment yesterday showing no progress in dilation or effacement.
I was really hoping I wouldn't go late...but I think I always knew I would.
I'm hoping there's no correlation too! I thought I would be ok with it, but at this point I don't like people telling me I'll probably go over my due date! I don't want to be pregnant another 2-3 weeks
My older sister and I were 2 weeks late, and my younger brother was 2 weeks early.
My mom is too funny she barely remembers any of the details. My bro and I (twins) were born at 32 weeks. She thinks she was on time with my sister and she was slightly late with my little bro.
I went into labor after being 0cm at 40 weeks and 1 day. I had DS 2 days later. So he was "late." I'm not sure what this little guy is going to be. I have a feeling late but DH says early. Only time will tell.

My mom had me three weeks late (yes, three), and I delivered my first on my due date. No coincidence here.
My mom delivered ove week early with my sister and I. Sure enough, my water broke one week early! But this could be a total coincidence.
BFP#1 EDD 11/8/11 - MC @ 9w6d, 4/15/11 we said goodbye
BFP#2 DD arrived 5/7/12
My sister and I were both 2 weeks early.
My little brother was due Dec 18, they induced on the 21st, because neither Dr. nor my mother who had 2 daughters aged 6 & 7, wanted to spend Christmas in the hospital.
Currently I'm 38 weeks, 3 days. So, no correlation to my sister & I's births!
From everything I've read before this thread, it seems like because cycle length has a genetic component there is a connection as far as when you deliver, assuming EDDs are calculated the same way (what is it, 28 day cycle, O at day 14? or something?)
That being said, everyone I know who's had a cycle length of around 28 days delivers around their 40 week mark; Everyone I know who's gone past 40 weeks had a slightly longer cycle. Maybe see how long your moms/sisters cycles are and see if there's any connection?!
My mom delivered her 3 kids (no inductions) at 39w6d, 39w3d and 39w4d. I've had my 2 girls at 39w3d and 39w2d but they were both induced - although with both my body was already beginning labor before they started and both times my doc was pretty sure I would've gone on my own around then or shortly after.
