James Van Der Beek's wife's breech homebirth

Just read in the new People mag that his wife had a successful breech homebirth. They were able to find a doc who specialized in breech deliveries and there were no complications. The article was really great and didn't make them seem like they were freaks or doing something horrible for their baby.

 Just thought I would share for those ladies who might be facing the same thing!

    That's awesome, I hope to read that.  I was really surprised to learn that my home birth MW has lots of experience with breech births and she said she'd be happy to support me in continuing my plans to HB if baby was breech.  It's pretty crazy that at home with her is the only place I could get that support...and that if I opted instead to go to the hospital for the birth, my OB would never allow me to even try, despite the fact we'd be right there with an OR in case an emergency arised.  It actually really makes me angry that many (most?) breech mamas are literally given no other choice but c/s.

    I think its so sad that doctors aren't trained anymore for breech babies.  When I was born my mom was very lucky to have an old doctor because he did have her birth me (breech) without any issues.  I mean the butt and head are the same size so I don't really get the issue.  My hb midwife also will do a breech birth however she will not do knees first (which is completely understandable even if you are in a hospital its not safe).  I'll be looking forward to the article- its nice to read positive stories!

    Awesome for them!  One of the article I read said he caught him too.  And he clarified that his wife had the baby, not him.  Go James!
