3rd Trimester

35/35 and menstrual cramps

I am 35 weeks today (yay!) but yesterday evening into this morning I've been what can only be described as menstrual cramps- very low down in my abd just like when I was getting my period.  In fact, a few times I actually forgot I was pregnant and went into the bathroom fully expecting to see that my period had started.  It isn't intense, and there is no pattern, but it definately comes and goes, sometime with the hard BH tummy.  I am sure it is not labor (right?!?!?) but could anyone explain what the heck it is?  I have my OB app tomorrow morning.

Thanks!

Re: 35/35 and menstrual cramps

  • I'm 34 weeks and I am experiencing the very same thing. I brought it up to my doctor yesterday and he wasn't concerned in the slightest. He told me it was normal and it was just my ligaments and uterus stretching and expanding down low. I hope he's right!

  • I've been getting it too--- I haven't brought it up to my Dr. but I did some research and it does seem to be normal.

  • Those cramps are normal at this stage of the game. If you start noticing a regular pattern and can time them, then you need to call the doctor. Otherwise just off and on cramps are normal.

  • I'm also 35 weeks today and have had the same feelings since Sunday. I went to the doctor on Monday. She checked my cervix to see if anything was starting (a little effaced and 1 cm, but nothing to worry about). She also said she was going to send my urine out because it could be a sign of a UTI or bladder infection. Otherwise, she said don't worry about it unless I can figure out a distinctive pattern. I would just wait to ask your doctor in the morning, unless something changes.
