3rd Trimester

Skin tags...(TMI--maybe)

So I feel like I am covered in skin tags and I hate it...it is driving me bonkers and my hubby keeps yelling at me because I keep picking at them, but I can't help it I am a picker.

They are all over my upper body (mostly chest and upper abdomen). Other than continuing to pick, is there a way to get rid of these things...I feel like a mutant.

TIA!

Re: Skin tags...(TMI--maybe)

  • I had one under each armpit from pregnancy.

I had a doctor slice them off after I had my son. It was NBD.

  • Loading the player...
  • Iodine dries them off, just ask your doc if it is safe to use

  • I have one on my areola. Not sexy at all. But I am not concerned. The Dr. can remove them really easily.

I have them mostly on my boobs - and had 2 on my areolas.. I say "had" because I picked them off... didn't take much, thankfully! I'm generally not a picker, but they're driving me nuts. I might try the Iodine thing, because DH is getting pissed that I keep picking on myself. LOL

  • Thanks for posting this.  I have a bunch and it is grossing me out.  Do you ladies have the dermatologist remove them?  I may try the apple cider vinegar.
  • Sounds gross but you can also tie a piece of thread around them and they will turn crazy colors and fall off. It will be tender but doesn't hurt any worse then getting them stuck in your clothes, etc.

  • Good to know I'm not the only one! I plan on getting mine removed by the dermatologist as soon as the baby comes, but may try the iodine or apple cider vinegar!

  • Nail clipper if they are really small. Doesn't hurt anymore than having the doctor do it. My OB took one off my areola a couple weeks ago and I can't even tell where it was.
  • I had a bunch of tiny ones on my neck during my last pregnancy. After DD was born they all disappeared. This time, nothing. Weird.

  • I had a ton with my 1st pregnancy, and used nail clippers to remove them myself. They are gross and it will hurt, but it's quick. I thoroughly grossed DH out doing this :) I have one left I can't bring myself to remove--on my eyelid!!!! After this pregnancy, I'm treating myself to a dermatologist appt to remove it and a couple other offending moles I would like to be rid of.

  • They have blood supply so it may bleed a bit if you just clip them. The iodine does a good job of drying them. I have applied 3x/ day - mine were on my lady parts (TMI, sorry) and the doctor did not want to remove them until labor.

I couldn't stand it so I dried them and yanked them out. It bled a bit, but it was worth it.
