Must.. start.. dilating!!!

I have a week and five days to go into labor naturally before needing an induction!!(for GD)

Yesterday the midwife told me we can start "serial sweeping" (membrane sweeps every 48 hours until it works) on Wednesday if I'm dilated enough.

But I currently have no dilation and I'm only 30% effaced! Ahh!!! I really want to be able to do this!

I asked her if there is anything I can do to get myself dilating and of course she said nope. Anyone have any happy stories of FTMs suddenly dilating a bunch within a week?

I don't have personal experience, but have heard of people going from closed to 10 within an hour. Good luck!

On Tues I was a 1cm with a long hard cervix...score. My midwives have recommended walking, sex, and evening primrose oil (can get it at walmart) to soften my cervix. Fingers crossed! I was hoping for a sweep but she doesn't recommend it with only 1cm, so I have to hold off until next week when I'm 41w1d. Hoping baby comes before then.

I've heard many FTMs can go from 0 to 10 in 12 hours or less so that's what I'm routing for in my case.

Are you effaced at all??? That is really more important... You can go into labor and only be 1cm dilated if your cervix is effaced and baby is at a stage 3.
