AC is off. OMFG, Really?!

You really just did that to a 39w pregnant woman?! I'm dying when the AC is on Mr Heatmiser because you set it to a tropical 82. So, because it's supposed to drop the 57 tonight, it's off. What about the fact that it's 85 right now?! And, it's going to take forever to cool it down. PLUS, no wind. Guess what!! No wind means the inside of this house won't cool down much at all. So debating a hotel right now, but I think I'm going to buy a box fan from WM and stick it in the window. After I soak in a tub of ice water. WTF?! Who turns the AC off in SOUTH TEXAS in MAY?!

EDIT: Ok rant done. I'll just turn the dang thing back on and dare anyone to mess with me today.

I hear ya! I'm in FL, and my a/c froze up right before bed. I was lucky that's all it was, I was nearly ballistic.

Oh, man. That used to happen to me in Dallas, and it would dang near reduce me to tears. Luckily, off for 10 minutes or so would fix it, and it was only during the day. Not at night.

I need to have this baby so I can go back to my normal line of work. I'm an IT field tech. I couldn't meet the physical requirements pregnant, and had to take an 8K pay cut to do deskside support. Once that happened, I could afford rent, or I could afford infant care. But, I can't afford rent AND infant care. Need to get back into field work and move out of my parents' place!

He'd be dead! LOL I turn the AC down a bit when my DH is gone and I'm still dripping in sweat at 72.

  • I live in a solid middle class neighborhood. A house rents for 900. Apts are 600-1200 depending on what side of the main street you're on. The cheaper ones are In a different school zone, so DD would continue to "live" with my parents and I would move about 5 miles away. (aka, I'd drop her off every morning and pick her upfrom my parents') Child care for an infant is between 180-210/wk. I'm a govt contractor, so I can also place him in the day care on post. Income based, 90/wk.  I'm on the waiting list. I Did it once on a lot less than what I'm making now. I can do it again. I'm not sure where your "low COL" Texas is, but that's a bit more expensive than here. We're in San Antonio.

Thank you for your concern, but I'm not some idealistic 19 year old. I have a 16 year old. I've been doing this for a long time. I actually COULD afford to pay rent and daycare. However, it leaves things so tight, I don't like losing my safety net of a few hundred extra dollars a month and a nice padded savings account and checking acct. Oh, and you can bet your Pecans I'll be taking my ex to court for child support!

To me, 70$ for a hotel for a good night's sleep was worth it. Some women spend money on hair and pedicures. I spent it on sleep.
