So it's not really a vacation, but we're getting ready to go to stay with DH's parents in Ireland for about 2 months and I'm nervous about forgetting something important for Saoirse. I have made a ridiculously long list of everything for me, DH, Saoirse, and the new baby (who will be born while we are there) but I still feel like I'm forgetting things.
My main concern is having Saoirse be comfortable at IL's house. Aside from obvious things like clothes and bibs, I am bringing her favorite toys, sheets and blankets from her bed, musical crib toy, sippy cups and bottles, teething rings, toothbrush, and even her bath toys. I may even bring our laundry detergent so that everything smells the same to her.
Am I forgetting anything? If your LO was going to be away from home for an extended period of time, what would you bring to make things more comfortable and familiar?
They already have a stroller, high chair, and crib for her. Also, we are driving and just bought a gigantic roof box so we can bring pretty much anything.
Re: Packing for extended vacation with LO - what would you bring?
I'm currently on a 10 day trip away from home. I think that keeping a list is a great idea. That way when you remember something, you can jot it down. I used Google Docs to keep track of my lists. Then I printed it off while packing. Here's my list of must haves...
Ergo
Hats
4 of her favorite books
Small toys (K likes to crawl around and explore the apartment anyway.)
Hand Pump (I haven't needed it this trip, but last time she went on an eating strike, and my boobs were FULL.)
Sippy cup and bottle
Everything else we bought here (groceries, diapers, etc). I only brought enough clothes for 5 days since we have a washer/dryer. I only brought a gallon zip lock bag worth of toys. We have been out and about so much that we haven't needed too many toys.
Good luck and safe travels!
I would pack almost everything. I am an over packer though.
We just went out of town for 4 days and one thing we wished we had brought was our high chair (we have one of the space saver ones).
