Funny comments

I took DD to the park tonight to burn off some energy. Another mom was there and we got to talking and she guessed W was 14 months, and I said no, she is 16 months. The mom said "Wow, she is really small!"

I think its funny when people make weird comments. I wonder do I do that too?  What are some weird comments you have received about your LO?

  • People are all telling us how big Kain is.  They always guess that he is older then he is, because he looks so big.  In reality the kid is tiny he is only in 6% for his weight and 20% for his height he still wears 9 month clothes.

Most of the weird and idiotic comments I get are from my MIL. But I've always gotten comments about her being big or little. Even though she was basically average until recently (now I think she's getting too thin).

  • Someone was surprised that DD is almost 17 months. They said she looked like a 6 month old... so I was like... but she walks, and talks... that doesn't make any sense!!
  • People are usually surprised that DD is as young as she is. We met a lady at Starbucks who was convinved our kids were the same age. Come to find out, her son was about to turn TWO. I know she's a little high on the growth charts, but it's not like she's a behemoth. I'm pretty sure there are several LOs on this board that are taller than her.

  • Well we have people think Joshua is our grandchild.  It has happened to DH 4 or 5 times & to both of us together once.  I swear - we neither one look that old.  We both know people our age who are grandparents but it is not impossible for 40 year olds to have a toddler.

    Oh Emm Gee! That's insane.

People always tell me JT looks big or older than he is but it doesn't really bother me.

I'm sure I say dumb things but I can't think of anything specific right now.

  • for p we consistently get two comments:

that he's a giant for his age (he is, he's in the 95th% & has only recently been on the charts, so i know he's big for 16 months) but everyone thinks he's older & then thinks there's something wrong with him when he doesnt act like a 3yr old.

the other is, people always tell us that he looks just like me (we have the same hair color), but my poor dh has to constantly hear "wow, he's all mommy"...umm, no, daddy was pretty darn involved in creating him as well ;)

    and for connor:

we're constantly correcting people when they call him a girl (even though he's dressed in all of p's boyish hand-me-downs?

and he's got really fine hair that sticks straight up so he gets a lot of comments on his crazy hair as well.

  • I have been asked at least 3 times if Emily and Aiden are twins.... They are 18 months, 10 lbs & 10 inches apart. I know I give those people the crazy eyes when they say that but really?

A couple weeks ago at TJMaxx, I just had Emily with me (wearing a silver glitter heart clip in her hair, a navy/white striped top with ruffles and a lime green bow and lime green capri pants) and a woman said

"OH my HE is soo adorable!"

I said "Thanks I think SHE is pretty cute"

"No really HE is just the cutest little BOY!"

"You are a pretty GIRL, aren't you EMILY?!?!"

"Yes HE really is cute" lady walks off, bahaha. It was the most bizarre conversation.

There is a 45 year old [single] woman with a 2 year old DS in our building. She looks a lot older and it's her only child. I thought it was her grand child too but never asked bc it's not abnormal to have kids later in NY. This lady really looked old though. My MIL's SIL found out at 48 that she was pregnant (surprise), and her older kids were 21 and 24...so when they are all out togther, people always assume, it's the grand child.

  • We get a lot of comments about how big she is and most people end up guessing she's almost 2.  We've been getting more dirty looks than anything lately though because she's going through a phase where screaming any time we leave the house is her favorite thing to do.  Oh, MIL is STILL making comments about how big E's nose was when she was born and how swollen her face was and how I need to let her do what she wants so she learns (we're talking using a giant metal fork instead of a toddler fork because if she hurts herself she'll learn not to do it again and let her sit on the couch or kitchen chair because if she falls off she'll learn not to do it again, even though she's already fallen off the couch twice from climbing on it and STILL tries to climb on it and jump around).
