BP change

I have had notoriously low BP all of my adult life and all the way into the pregnancy. In the low 90s over low 60s, sometimes even lower. I have a long-time cardiologist for that and the fainting spells that come from it.

Today, I took my BP and its 130/90. That is WAY out of the realm for me and I'm worried. Today is also the day I woke up with an increase in swelling. Yesterday I noticed I'm not peeing as much as I am drinking.

I have an OP appt today, so I am not asking if you think I should call or go to the OB...but I'm asking, are these signs of pre-E? Should I not worry unless told otherwise?

It's always best not to worry, especially with high blood pressure.  However, it's great that you have an apt. today, and I would bring up your fears with your doctor.  Certainly, don't let them blow this off (though I doubt they would).  Mild pre-e would suck, but it's not the most uncommon complication, and your doctor will know how to handle it.  But, you should probably look forward to lots of testing from here on out, which will keep you and baby safe.

  • Mine is always around 90-something/60-something, until 2 weeks ago when it suddenly jumped to 128/84.  It has stayed there.  My doc isn't worried because I'm not having excessive swelling or protein in my urine, plus technically it's not high....just high for me.

So - there you go.  Maybe it's nothing to worry about, but I'm sure they will want to keep an eye on it and check your pee.
