Pain on Right Side-quick question

So of course I will ask my Dr. about this on Friday at my appt. but thought I might ask if any other's experienced this. So under my right rib, almost under my boob, there is a slight pain that keeps coming up. It's not unbearable by any means just a pain that's uncomfortable. It's only on the right side. My sister had gallbladder issue and I am wondering if I do as well. Anyone else experience anything like this?

Re: Pain on Right Side-quick question

  • I've had the same thing happen! A couple days ago, and again last night. I too am going to ask about it at my appointment next week. Is it like a dull pain that just comes on suddenly and then goes away after a few minutes? That's how mine is.

  • When the doc examines you, he/she might look for a thing called Murphy's sign - it's a little physical test to look for gallbladder inflammation (cholecystitis). It's easy and you can try this at home before you go talk to your doc - wedge your fingers under your ribcage on the right side and inhale deeply. If you have to suddenly stop inhaling because the pain becomes too intense, that's considered a positive Murphy's sign and indicates that you may have some gallbladder irritation. Cholecystitis is common in pregnancy because of high estrogen levels. If the doctor finds a positive test, you'll probably just be given an ultrasound of that area to look further into it. Good luck!

    Yes, pretty much.

Thanks I'll try it. My sister was just put on a diet.
