I have had the website for my hospital restart 3 time and I have put all of the information in 3 times: I am at the point of cursing at my computer... Do I really need to do this?
The hospital I am in you have to. If not, you have to go to registration before you can be seen and wait in line with everyone else. Not something I'd want to do while in labor! I'm also not sure if the registration desk is open 24/7. Maybe call them and try over the phone?

Just ask your hospital. With mine it wasn't necessary, but that would mean DH would have to leave me to go register when I came in in labor (even though they wouldn't make me wait). You can probably just call and schedule a face-to-face appointment to register if the site keeps messing up.
I had to make an appt and do this face to face. See if you can at least talk to someone on the phone. There are a bunch of consent forms you'll have to sign, and medical info they need to get. Not something you'll want to deal with if you're in the throes of labor!

This. If you don't pre-register and you go in when the L&D registration desk is closed, you have to wait in line and register at the ER. You can always call and see if you can give them the info that way.
Mine requires it. We went in the first time, but I wasn't aware of the online registration 3 years ago. They've already called today wanting my copay. We payed early last time, but this time I'll wait until we get to the hospital just in case something crazy happens!
I would call and let them know you're having computer problems. If they do it online, someone can probably take the info over the phone!
You are reminding me that I can't remember if I pre-registered or not. I am so prego-brain these days.
Lol!
I'm happy I did. I couldn't imagine doing all of that during or after labor! The lady who does it at my hospital actually called me to set up an appointment.
Our doctor's office used to have us pre-register, but found that you baskcailly had to re-register when you arrived at the hospital. They thought it to be a waste of time, so now justs have you register when you go in for labor.
You know, after I read this thread I checked out the procedures for my hospital and they said that I would have to pre-register no later than 5 months preggo. I was like, "NOOOO!" but I called my OB and they said that since I have already gone to my hospital for the level 2 sono, then I have already pre-registered. You might want to check to see if your hospital does the same thing.
You don't HAVE to, but it sure does beat filling out the forms while you're in labor. Your hospital should have paper copies if you're having trouble with the online version.
Our mw made the appointment to coincide with my next appt with her. So we go preregister at the hospital and then go to my appointment. We did it last time but the only difference is I'm not letting me sucker me out of money for a stupid epi. They talked me into paying for it early last time even though I didn't want one and promised to refund my money if I didn't use it. Well, it took 6 months of me calling every other day before I got my money back. I'm telling them to suck off this time.

HA - Unless you want to fill out paperwork when you are in the middle of having very painful contractions I would pre-register.
Maybe they are just having technical difficulties. Try again tomorrow
