~*~DE/DEmbryo/GC Check-in~*~

This group is open to anyone who has already gone through donor egg/donor embryo/gestational carrier, is in the process of it, or plans on doing it in the future.

This check-in posted each Tuesday.  If you?d like to be added to this group, please reply to this message, and I?ll make sure to add you for next week.  Welcome to the lurkers!  We know this can be a difficult journey, but we welcome you with open arms.  Let us know if we can answer any questions.

GRADUATES ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO POST!

FACEBOOK GROUP: Yellow_Daisy has restarted a PRIVATE Facebook group (meaning no one can see it in your feed, that you are a member, etc.) for the ladies from IF and SAIF who are using/have used donor eggs/embryos or donor sperm.  If you would like to join, please page Yellow_Daisy and ask for an invite to the group.  This might be a nice way to keep in touch in a more private setting and address issues that may arise down the road.

***** If you are a donor or interested in donating, we would be happy to answer questions.  Please start a new post with ?Question for DE ladies? as the title. *****

Re: ~*~DE/DEmbryo/GC Check-in~*~

  • Nothing really new here. My meds were delivered last week. Still on BCP, baby asprin, PNV, and extra folic acid. We signed our legal agreement last week as well.

QOTW: I am a baby when it comes to pain, so OB, and def an epidural. I wouldn't mind a c-section.

  • Update: I am in the 2ww from an IUI that was pretty much a bust so no hope here. In the meantime just waiting on getting matched to some donor embryos we selected through our clinic.

QOTW: I haven't really thought of any of that. Just trying to get my first ever BFP then maybe I'll start to plan that out.

Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
GC process?  Nothing much new to report.  My H is becoming an expert at giving shots and I go back next Tuesday to see how I responded to the estrogen.

QOTW: If this is something that is on your mind lately, what are your thoughts about your birth plan? OB vs. midwife? Hospital vs. birthing center? Epidural? Planned C-section?   I can't let myself think about these kind of things.

  • Status: Starting Lupron tomorrow. My clinic just informed me yesterday that they want me to dilapan to stretch my cervix on 6/4. Not so keen on that idea for several reasons, but we're paying them the big bucks, so I will do what they ask. I just wish this had been discussed following the mock transfer, instead of sprung on me this late in the game.

QOTW: I don't let myself think that far ahead. One thing IF has taught me, though, is that no matter how hard I want to and try to plan my life, some things I really don't have much control over.

I'm sorry that the QOTW was insensitive to those of you not at the point of thinking about these things yet - I would hate to make anyone feel bad because of the question.  It makes total sense to not think about these issues when you are still in the IF trenches.  Sorry!

Don't worry J...I personally was not put off by it.  I know your intentions are always coming from a good place.  FWIW, I would like to have a c-section, I am sure people would think I am crazy but the idea of giving birth really scares me.  I try not to think of it only because cycling is scary enough...birthing is a whole other scarey!!

I am waiting for my period to start.  My last BCP was on Saturday.  Still on lupron and praying AF get here by Saturday!  Still hoping to go to RBA 6/4 for the thaw and fert.  Just need my body to do what it is supposed to do!

Hugs to those who need them and wishing all the best to those cycling and getting ready to cycle.  I am your biggest cheerleader!

I am AMA and all tests on H came back normal

Oh, no!  I don't feel bad about the question.  It's just a self-preservation thing for me.  I can only thing about the next thing that I have to do or I get so caught up that my mental health ends up suffering.

Absolutely don't feel bad about the QOTW. I think it's a great question for some of the ladies on this thread who are currently PG. And, that's the great thing about this thread - it's got those at all stages of the DE process.

Update:  I'm in the 2WW; did a 5dt of 1 blast on Saturday, and beta is 5/22.  We also have two frosties, so things are going really well--its great to know that even if this one doesn't work out, we have 1-2 tries still available before spending the big bucks again :).

QOTW:  Haven't thought it through much, but I think I'll go somewhere in between natural and heavily medicated--I want to be comfortable, but not dreamy.  Prefer to avoid C-section, because there can be significant complications.

  • Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
GC process? Still on BCP, ordered my meds today. Getting closer to action!

QOTW: If this is something that is on your mind lately, what are your thoughts about your birth plan? OB vs. midwife? Hospital vs. birthing center? Epidural? Planned C-section? I think we'll do at OB at our hospital. I very much would like a natural birth, but I have no idea how it will all go down if and WHEN we finally get there.

    Good luck all! :)

  • Update: Not too much to report, but I have my first montly growth scan next Tuesday, I believe because we are monitoring my external fibroid (which has not been giving me any trouble, so I hope it's just an opportunity to see baby girl doing well again).

QOTW: We will definitely be at the hospital, just in case re my thyroid issues, the fibroid, and just because -- insurance, it's where my OB works, etc.  We start a birthing class pretty soon and I'll think more about my specific plan then.  I do hope to avoid a c-section but if that's what happens, so be it.  I'm certainly not opposed to an epidural, but I do also need to learn more, and that's what the class is for.

    me - 41 (dx: DOR); DH - 53 (no problems); 7/18/09 - married!; 8/4/09 - BFP on first (real)try; 9/14/09 - missed m/c; 9/15/09 - d&c; 11/09 - 3/10 - 4 natural cycles = BFN; 4/10 - dx hyperthyroidism caused by Graves' disease; 6/10 - thyroidectomy; 7/10 - 12/10 - 1 natural and 5 medicated IUI cycles = BFN; 1/11 - new RE; dx low ovarian reserve (AMH .42; 1/26/11 -- BFP (ectopic) from IUI #6; methotrexate 2/10/11; 6/2/11 - IVF #1 = BFN; 9/12/11 - prescreening for DE; 9/15/11 - IUI #7 (unmedicated)= BFN; 11/8 - begin DE cycle (shared risk program); 12/5 - ER (5 eggs/4 mature/3 fertilized/2 left by day 5) 12/10 - ET of one 1BB blast (expanded, "fair" quality), none to freeze; 12/22 - totally shocked by +hpt; beta #1 = 413; #2 = 3952 2/14 - CVS reveals a healthy baby girl! EDD: 8/27/12 DD born 8/31/12, 10 lbs 10 oz and perfect in every way.
  • Status Update: Where are you currently with the DE/DEmbryo/
GC process?  I am in my 2ww.  I'm 7dp3dt and I have no idea what to think.  I am obsessing about every little symptom and lack of symptoms and I want to POAS but I promised DH I would wait until 9dp3dt which is this Saturday.  it's safer for me to test on a weekend because if it's bad news, then I can crawl into bed and hide until my beta on Monday morning.

QOTW: If this is something that is on your mind lately, what are your thoughts about your birth plan? OB vs. midwife? Hospital vs. birthing center? Epidural? Planned C-section?   See above.  The only thing on my mind is this cycle and whether or not it was successful.

  • Update:  25 wks, failed my 1 hour glucose test, just took my 3 hour today.  I hope I pass.

QOTW: If this is something that is on your mind lately, what are your thoughts about your birth plan? OB vs. midwife? Hospital vs. birthing center? Epidural? Planned C-section?  OB, most likely C-Section.  My OB is comfortable with doing vaginal with twins, but I'm not sure I am...

    Good Luck everyone!

I haven't checked in to the check in in a while - I actually haven't been on the boards a whole lot. Trying to take my mind off everything while I wait to cycle. But, the cycle will (hopefully) be upon me very soon. The donor is just waiting for her period - and I have this irrational fear that she is pregnant and after waiting months for her we'll have to start from scratch...

Anyway, I'm starting daily Lupron tonight after months of Lupron Depot. This cycle I will also be doing IVIG - I started seeing a reproductive immunologist in addition to my RE. And I'm not going to lie - I'm scared sh!tless.

QOTW: Like others, I can't really think about that now. I know it would be in a hospital with an OB since I'm high risk. When I lost Samantha I had an epi, but I think it was less because of the pain than the emotional turmoil I was going through. I feel like otherwise, if labor was 'supposed' to be happening, I could have handled the pain - I think I have a pretty high tolerance for pain with everything I've been through. I'd prefer to experience labor with a happy result as opposed to a c/s, but whatever gets the baby here safely. I guess we'll see if I ever get to that point.

Dx: High FSH, stage IV endo, homozygous C677T MTHFR and PAI-1

IVF #2 MDL protocol Jan/Feb converted to IUI, BFN
IVF #2 take 2: Antagonist, one embie, BFN
    IVF #3: Antagonist, no fertilization
One last ditch effort at OE IVF (antagonist with Clomid) cancelled
    DE cycle #1 Jan/Feb 2011, BFP, ectopic
    DE cycle #2 June/July 2011 - BFP
10/28/11 Baby girl lost at 17 weeks due to pre-term labor. We love and miss you.
    DE cycle #3 June/July 2012 - BFP, twins, both heartbeats stopped, D&C
    2 frosties but don't know what's next
FET Dec 2012: BFP! Praying this one sticks for the long haul!
  • I am around, remember me?well I just got off the phone to secure a shared donor! Holy Toledo. Anyway the donor is taking a break so the cycle won't start until at least June 30.  That is my status. I am also on the DE Facebook page sine I am on FB a lot more than here.

  • My update....not so good. We transferred 2 beautiful blasts per my RE...one 4AA and one 5AA that was hatching out of its shell. I had my beta on Saturday 5/12 and it was 25. As soon as I heard the number I knew it was a chemical pregnancy. I wanted so badly to transfer 3 blasts and my dr wouldn't let me because she was so sure both of these blasts would take. I was devastated...it was a tough Mother's Day weekend for me. I am grateful we have 18 frozen. My RE has me scheduled for surgery Monday...for a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. She wants to make sure everything is good with the uterus and check my only fallopian tube to make sure it isn't filled with fluid.

Our next transfer is 6/15. My donor emailed me today checking in and saying she is praying for me. I feel so blessed to have found her. I will be going to a conference in a few weeks before my transfer (about 30 minutes from where she lives) and my husband and I have plans to visit her and her family.

Is there anyone who had failed numerous cycles with DE or had chemical pregnancies? I would love to hear from you. I never thought this would be harder than my OE!

Wishing those in the 2ww BFP's and welcome to those who are beginning their journey.
