In one of the boys' clothes post below a few people referred to dressing their boy in "skater" style. I've never really given a thought to what "style" DD dresses in - as far as any "style" its mostly "hobo princess" when left to her own devices and "cute" on the rare occassions when I get to pick.
Re: semi s/o - does your LO have a "style" you prefer/they prefer?
DD1 loves dresses. She's just starting to add skirts. And prefers shoes that sparkle.
I'd say "bright and sparkly" is pretty much the summation her style. It seems like a pretty common one among her classmates.

DD - princess or boho. She loves to wear dresses and mix/match prints
DS1 - athletic. He's all about the track/fleece pants and t's for school.
I got the "skater boys" : ) It was my post. There is actually a REALLY good reason for the look but that would be too much into our private life ; ) I don't buy (well, I don't have to buy--I don't get) much real skateboard apparel as I think its "too old" and sometimes very inappropriate for my 4 & 2 year old. I love the skater shirts from Boden (damn them for not having any this season), TCP, GAP, Old Navy, etc
My DD loves dresses also. She esp loves the HA dresses though I think the playdresses are getting too young, so we have been sticking to twirl dresses and others...In 1st grade, its something to dress up everyday esp if you have a pair of little heels (I can only go as far as wedges though : ) She is already asking for "high heels..." Gah!
I have a very busy toddler. It's a good day if his clothes are clean. He seems to get dirty one second after getting dressed. That kind of rules out a style. If I had to pick I would say he has an althletic look.
I would classify DD1's style as Girly Girl. Loves dresses/ sparkles/hair bows, dress shoes, handbags,etc...

We tend to buy DS things that have skulls, guitars, and "rock"-type stuff on them because it's what DH wears so it's what he likes. Left to his own devices, he puts together some pretty ridiculous outfits. This weekend he came downstairs wearing spongebob swim trunks, a rocker-style t-shirt, and a straw fedora. I think it's adorable when he dresses himself and I encourage him to do so on the weekends to "express himself".
For DD, I mostly buy cute dresses or separates that can be mixed and matched. She isn't picking out her own clothes yet but she knows when she feels pretty and she definitely flaunts it and smiles more.
