June 2012 Moms

who is still working?

I had planned to work up until delivery, but now I am so miserable and grumpy I really want this to be my last week.  I'm looking into my leave policy in hopes that I can call it quits early.  I figure I can have time to deep clean the house and have some quality ME time before the new LO comes and school is out for the summer for my girls.  Who is still working, and when do you plan to go out on leave?

  • I'm still working full time. Thankfully I sit at a desk and computer all day so I can put my feet up, but I'm still pulling in 40+ hours a week. I won't go on leave until that baby decides he or she is coming. I plan on working right up until labor. I would love to go on leave early but it just isn't feasable. I'm taking the last part of ME time this weekend by going up north and preping our travel trailer for our upcoming arrival. It is only about 2 hours away from the house and I figure I'm still far enough out that I should be ok. I won't be alone either since the inlaws will be up there at their motorhome this weekend as well. But I will get a little time to myself to just unwind and relax so that will be super nice! :)

  • I'll be working until I go into labor, unless I can somehow convince my doctor to put me on bedrest. j/k. I know those on bedrest wish they weren't. I just want a reason to be done working before baby, but still get paid for it and not have it impact the time I get once the baby arrives!

  • working til i go into labor, which includes 2-2.5 hrs in the car of commuting per day.  it's not fun, but honestly at least it's a desk job where i get to sit down because when i'm home that means DS is home and he is a HANDFUL these days (his daycare is out by my work so i don't have the option of sending him to daycare but staying home which really would be dreamy).

so work is uncomfortable and defintiely annoying but technically more 'restful' than at home.  tradeoff i guess. but talk to me in a few weeks and i'll probably be hating work too and begging the baby to come out :)

I am, and I plan on it until I deliver.  I have an office job where I mostly sit at my desk all day so it's not horrible.  But I do get uncomfortable in the afternoons.
So happy for my BFPB Steff13914 and her new twins! Welcome to the world sweet babies:) Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I am working full time and will continue to do so until little man decides to make his arrival. At my last appointment my swelling was pretty bad, so my doctor said she was going to reevaluate at my next appointment and the swelling is getting worse. So, I guess we'll see what she says next week....I may be on reduced hours at work or she may put me on bedrest. I'm hoping for the reduced hours since I still have so much to do. I am really tired and uncomfortable at work though, so my productivity is wayyy down.
  • I'm due the 4th and the last day of real school is June 1 (we have a week of fun activities the following week and work days until the 13th). I'll be here until I go into labor. I can't really imagine sitting at home waiting for her to arrive, but I'm also feeling fine.

  • I don't have the option to leave early. And I don't think I would anyway. I like my job and don't want to feel too left behind. I also know if I were to leave before the baby comes, I would sleep later and become lazy and I don't want that to happen!

  • With baby #1, I told my doc work was too much and he wrote me a note for HR stating that I can no longer work. However, it did count toward my FMLA leave and short term disability which shortened the time I was able to stay home with some pay.

  • I'm mostly done with work. I may go in for an hour once or twice a week to put in a last minute order, but I think I've got my stores stocked for at least 2 months, so I am ready to just focus on making my house as comfy as possible.

  • I'm in it for the long haul.  I don't want to waste any vacation time.

  • May 28th is my last day - but I don't start my Mat Leave until June 15th because I have holidays and lieu time built up. I should get a total of 55 weeks off Big Smile

  • I'm working until I go into labor.  We own a business, so anytime I take away from work is not beneficial to our bottom line (ie. our livelihood).  I have, however, been taking a couple of hours each day (if I can) to go home and rest or take a nap.

In all honesty, I won't get a true maternity leave.  There are too many factors in the business that need my hand in it (payroll, accounts payable, etc).  So, I'll probably pop in for a couple of hours each week to take of things.  I know it's not ideal, but it's what we have to do.

  • 2 more weeks of work for me.. unless he comes earlier then that. I'm getting induced on the 31st.. I only have 6 weeks of paid off and want to spend all of it with the baby.

  • My last day is next friday... I have been wanting labor to start tho... I am tired of work... I live 5 minutes from my hospital and doctor... and work 40 minutes away... I really don't want to go into labor at work... but this weekend would be great... lol like I have a choice... But not sure if I'm going back after baby any way... hubby and I still can't decide...

My plan was to work until I go into Labor but I think I am going to make my last day June 1st. I am due the 3rd and my doctor said she would induce me at 41 weeks so the most vacation time I would have to take would a week.

  • I plan to work until my due date (6/10), but boy would I like to leave now!

  • I'm planning on working until at least the end of June, but I only work part time so it's not so bad for me. I teach and the worst bit is when I have a full morning of classes...3 hours with no pee break.

  • I plan to work until delivery. I'm still feeling pretty good, and I have a desk job that doesn't take a lot out of me physically.
  • I was going to work until i went into labor.  with docs setting my c section for May 29th, i decided next Wednesday the 23rd would be my last day.
  • Ditto!

I'm so ready to not have to show up at work every day - my motivation at the office is completely gone. I would much rather clean the house top to bottom over the next 3 weeks than come into work every day and feel like I'm wasting my and the company's time.

  • I'm planning on working until my due date because I really don't want to come back to work until next year. I'm still feeling pretty good so hopefully I can pull through. I am however most likely going to work the very last week form home.
  • Planning on working until I go into labor. My pelvic pain is sooo intense but I'm hoping to push through and deal. We've been working so hard on getting out of CC debt before the LO arrives. If I can continue to work, we'll be out of CC debt just in time (6/15). This is currently my biggest motivation to stay!

  • Monday is my last day and I have tomorrow off. It couldn't have come sooner.  We get 2 weeks prior to our due date off at my company and I didn't take advantage of it last time.  This time, I'm not being so stupid.  I'm being induced a week earlier than my due date, so I'm going out a week earlier to get my full two weeks, too.
