Stomach Bugs & Flu

Well, my 9 year old just happened to bring home the stomach bug from school the other day. Then my husband comes home with the cold flu. And then I got the stomach bug last night... right now I am PRAYING to God that my LO doesn't get any of this. I'm terrified to the point where I'm having panic attacks because she is still so young... Only 10 weeks old.... Someone make me feel better! :(

Re: Stomach Bugs & Flu

  • ((hugs)) Don't freak out, keep her away from everyone and open the windows in your house and change the sheets on all the beds. I understand your concern, my 8 week old picked up a head cold from her first week of daycare; this weekend was awful listening to her congested breathing was awful. If you're really worried, maybe call the pedi.? GL.

At 3 weeks of age, my son was sent home from daycare with suspected pink eye.  I freaked.  He went to the pedi that night, and she reassured me that DD would be ok.  If she got pink eye, she got pink eye.  They would treat her too.  Our pedi also told us that 2nd kids will get more illnesses earlier just because you can't keep your older kids in a bubble.

Fortunately, he didn't have pink eye.  But still.

Anyway, ditto pp about keeping her away as much as possible.  When DH had a cold when DS was a newborn, he wore a towel around his face to keep germs off of him.. LOL

  • Hopefully this will make you feel better! The night I was discharged from the hospital (dd was 2 days old) I came down with a stomach bug. I was literally confined to the toilet from 10pm to 5am. We called the doctor (a few times) and she assured us that dd was getting so many antibodies from my breast milk that she should be fine and dh could bring her to me to nurse. She didn't catch it. But omg it was the worst and grosses sickness I have ever had.

I had a cold when I went into labor with DS.  He finally got his first cold at 6 weeks (after his sister had brought it home from daycare).  His dad had the stomach bug this past weekend.  It sucks, but it happens.  Just keep everyone who is sick away from them as much as possible.
