2nd Trimester

Feeling baby from outside?

I have been feeling the baby for just a little over a week now - just light bubbles/popping feeling. Lately the kicks have been coming more frequently. Tonight I was laying on my back and felt it again, but a bit stronger than I normally feel it. I put my hand down and felt a couple little bumps - just like light tapping. I want to describe it sort of like a "pulse" - it happened twice and they were a couple seconds apart. I'm 17 weeks right now (1st pregnancy)....I feel like it must be too early for me to have felt it from the outside! Actually, I feel like everything is happening so early! Everyone thinks that I'm showing quite a bit for how far along I am, and lots of my friends think I felt the baby inside quite early too. Has anyone else felt the baby from the outside this early?

Re: Feeling baby from outside?

  • I felt my baby for the first time, from the outside, around 24 weeks.  Now its a regular thing, almost every hour, every day.  :) You'll get to the point, soon, where there is no denying it!  If you aren't certain, it probably won't be too long till you are ;)

I cannot wait for this to happen!!! I think I am just feeling it from the inside and I always try to put my hand down and just feel it haha but nothing!!!! I CANT WAITTTTT
  • I kept thinking that I was feeling it from the outside starting at 16 weeks. But my husband couldn't feel anything, even when I could. He didn't feel our LO move until I was 21 or 22 weeks. But, it will get stronger and stronger in the weeks to come. This is my first too and it's really exciting to feel him getting stronger and bigger :)

  • I felt baby from the outside at around 19w. But DH couldn't feel him til around 20w. I think sometimes it is easier for us to feel because we can feel it from the inside too. Plus FTDs d

  • Sorry about the incomplete post above. My iPhone just posted it randomly as I was still typing then wouldn't let me edit.

What I was saying is: FTDs don't always know what they are feeling for so what they think is a muscle spasm or your pulse getting stronger could be kicks.

I just felt something on Sunday at 21 weeks.... And it was a pulsating feeling also! my friend said she thought it could've been the baby having hiccups! I felt that from the outside and there was no denying I was the baby. I felt it again the next dy while lying down also and the past couple days notice. So of course now I'm paranoid!
  • I started feeling baby move inside around 17 weeks... felt the baby move on the outside around 20 weeks.  Very pulse-like.  Two swift kicks back to back.

  • I've been feeling LO move on the outside for about a week now.  DH just felt her for the first time on Mothers Day.  But she's my shy one.  LO runs from almost everything on the surface of my belly....doppler, ultrasound, hands.  DD was always ready to show off...starting in the womb!
  • I have felt the baby from the inside at 16 weeks and outside at 17 weeks.  Yesterday at my dr.'s appointment I was measuring high/big - I'm already at my belly button.  The baby also kicked when we were listening to the doppler, I felt it, my dr. felt it, and we heard the kick.  We were also unable to get a clear heartbeat reading...it was going from 130-155, the baby would not hold still.

So, she does suspect I may be a little further along than I originally thought.  Which I think is impossible, so maybe we just have a fast implanter and grower.
