Bib on LO During Cake Smashing

I realize this is probably a stupid question/thought. Alexis' 1st birthday was yesterday, however we are celebrating her birthday on Saturday. I have everything ready to go for her birthday, except, I just thought about how messy she is going to get with her cake. I didn't really think about wanting to put a bib on her because I want her outfit to be visible in all of the pictures but now I'm thinking maybe I should get one.

Are you ladies going to have LO wear a bib or just let them get as messy as they want with their cake?

Nah, no bib, I will probably have her in something adorable for that (but completely non-functional, like a dress that's no good for crawling in lol) and change her after the cake part.

  • yeah, i think that if you are going to let the kid smash a cake, you will have to change clothes and wash up afterward.  kids get messy!

I have a cute cupcake CD I got for her so she will just wear that!

We will just have DD in her diaper for that part and let her have at it is she chooses. :)

  • I had a cute "My First Birthday" bib on her during the (cup)cake smash.  I didn't want her dress getting dirty because I wasn't planning on changing her, and she's probably going to wear the dress again for her 1 year photos.  I figure I had plenty of other photos with her dress being visible.  She hardly even made a mess, but I guess it might have been different had I given her a whole cake.

  • I was going to strip him down to his diaper and let him go to town :)  Maybe a party hat.

  • ditto on probably just a diaper. Or her swimsuit (we're doing a splash party) and then I'll just change her into other clothes or another swimsuit afterwards.

I got a cute, ruffled pink diaper cover for cake smash time, then I'll wash her p and get her back into her outfit

  • We're probably going to just change her outfit before and after.

I know she is going to get incredibly messy and I don't want to worry about the mess... I'll just let her get completely covered and then give her a quick bath.

  • Ev wore a bib. He had bright red and blue frosting on his cake and the laundry doer in me cringed at the thought of trying to get those colors out of his shirt later :)

    This!

  • I'm probably just going to have her in her diaper and a party hat as well.
