June 2012 Moms

my hips are so sore

this pregnancy has been fine, and then I hit 32 wks and I am SO sore, like I was at 37 wks with my other kids. The baby is on a big nerve, very low, I feel stabbing pain when I walk, and today I feel like my hips are splitting apart. Unfortunately I cant rest much with a 3 yo and 23 month old at home and my DH gone until June 1. I just met with a mothers helper today and plan on using her a few times a week though. I feel bad for my kids, all I want to do is lay down.

I can't imagine going much longer, I had my kids at 38 and 39 wks, but I am so uncomfortable that even 3-4 weeks makes me want to cry. (and it could be longer)

I just need to get through until JUne 1 and then DH will be home for a month to help me out so I can put my butt in bed and rest. come on June ;)

Re: my hips are so sore

  • I feel your pain (literally)! If you can find some time to get in a pool it has helped me so much. Lying down helps me but as soon as I get up it almost seems to feel worse. Just standing in the water really makes a huge difference though. I hope that you can get some relief soon!

  • My hips have been murder I felt I was being torn in two. Our Dr taught us something they called hip squeezes at our birthing class and this has been such a relief. DH puts his hands on the tops of my hips and squeezes in and up not a fix all but does help a good deal.

  • I've been pretty lucky since I'm mostly OK during the day (although today we went to my brother's dance practice and I chose to sit on an exercise ball instead of the floor, and my hips were practically splitting apart about half an hour later), but the pain gets really bad at night. I'm normally a stomach sleeper anyway, so this side sleeping business has not been awesome... Now I get to throw hip pain on top of it. It kind of helps to have a pillow between my legs, but not always.

  • I went to see a chiropractor yesterday. I don't know if it helped or not, but I am still having back hip and back pains. My DH is fixing our pool and hopefully it will be ready for swimming by the end of the week. Then, of course, the temperature is going down.

  • I'm suffering too - much more and earlier than the last too.

I've been doing prenatal yoga and honestly have decided to stop going to class as all the 'opening' that we're doing is making me concerned as my hips already feel like they're going to split and baby falls out (my kegels aren't great either - blushes).

I do find baths, after the kids are asleep help alot, but other than that, not much does.

I know our bodies are supposed to be designed for this, but this third is making me wonder if mine is? (although I haven't had any problems, just really starting to feel everything this past week).
