Seriously.. so stressed out. She was asleep and I turned my back for one second and she rolled off of the sofa. I scooped her up right away but her scream and crying sent me into a panic. Also yesterday she spit up after eating, and started gagging on it. I was sitting her upright when she spit up and was burping her but she was gagging for a breath and it came out her noes too! I sucked out her noes and was just hoping for a cry but she did not cry. I was so scared she was choking.
My husband returned last week to his day job but as of this monday he returned to his night job as well so he is gone from 7am till 1130pm. I think I am just so nervous about doing this all alone and these two things on top of her weight issues have me on high alert.
I can not believe I let her fall...
Re: She rolled off the sofa!
If it makes you feel better you weren't the first April Bumpie this happened to. WildcatPrincess posted about this the other day. These things happens. Babies are resilient.
No baby makes it through infancy without some type of fall/bump/etc. It's a rite of passage.
When I had my first, I think she was about four months old and we'd had a particularly hellish week of no sleep (she had just gotten her first teeth). It was like 1 am and I had just finished feeding her, I went to sling her up on my shoulder to burp her and I somehow heaved her up too high and gave her noggin a good thump off the wall. I was completely mortified and stayed by her bed all night to make sure she was still breathing.
She's 6 now, and no signs of any of my new mom mishaps scarring her for life.
Take it easy on yourself. Crap happens when you're sleep deprived.
DD1 was around 3 months and I had let her sleep on our bed. . . I had her in the middle and didn't think to put pillows around her like I normally did. Walked away to do something, probably go to the bathroom, to hear her screaming like seconds later! I ran back and there she was, having rolled off the bed onto the floor in the pile of DH's clothes that were on the side of the bed (so thankful now he was lazy putting them away!) I checked her over, calmed her down and made sure not to keep my eyes off of her all day, ready to call the Dr. at any sign something was wrong. Yup, I was mortified that I let that happen
She was okay, and I think in the end I was more upset than she was. DD3 has choked on spit up and had it come out her nose twice too, very scary to watch her try to catch her breathe even though I'm holding her up. Never had that with the other two!
