Tank Tops--probably a stupid question

If I were going to buy some tanktops from Old Navy and rather than buy them in maternity, I was going to buy them in tall, do you think they would last for awhile?  I have only bought 3 or 4 maternity tops so far and am just not sure if it would work, or if it would be a disaster.  Worst case scenario I could wear them next year, since I am tall....

Thoughts?

Re: Tank Tops--probably a stupid question

  • I think you'd be fine. I can wear my regular ON tanks for a while. (I'm not a fan of the ruching.)

That said, I adore the Liz Lange ribbed tanks from Target and wore them not pregnant cause they were so long and didn't move when I worked out.

  • I just took advantage of the B1G1 1/2 off at Motherhood and their maternity tanks are just longer, so I am betting the ON ones would be the same. Just a hunch.

  • I am tall and heavy and pregnant (great combo), plus size and reg tank tops are now too short.  Even the target ones that I bought a few months ago.  I am going to the maternity tanks next....
  • For my first two pregnancies I wore American Eagle Outfitter tanks just because they were long enough and fit so perfectly!  IDK how their tanks are now, I kindof decided to go the maternity route.  I think you would be fine so long as you think they feel good :)  PLUS, you are going to need them after you have baby too!  So it'd be nice to already have them if they are working for you anyways.

I have a few of the maternity tanks from ON and I've been wearing them since before I was showing. They aren't baggy at all, but they stretch nicely when you need them to.  I still fit into all of my regular tanks from various stores, but I don't want to stretch them out, so I'll be stocking up on more maternity ones soon.

I've bought talls in ON clothes and they never seem to fit me right. They are always too long. I'm 5'8"...I'm not sure how tall you are. I recently bought a black solid tanktop from ON in the maternity section and when tummy gets bigger it'll be perfect!  They are nice and long without making them too big in the chest very comfy and reasonably priced! I'd go maternity but thats just me!

Beth, we should design a maternity line for tall, chubby, pregnant chicks.  This is becoming a complete nightmare!  I can't find any maternity pants what so ever that are long enough and don't look like I was poured into them!  I said screw it and I sewed a belly band into a couple pairs of old work pants and stocked up on dresses.

We cannot be the first tall, chubby people to ever get knocked up!

I bought floods. At least it is summer and peg legs pants are in style.  Why does no one make long maternity pants for a reasonable price?

I am in desperate need of maternity stuff and it's so hard to order online but all my free time is taken up by packing.  So I think I need to just try to order some online.  Ugh!

I'd buy the maternity ones. I've been wearing them for a few weeks now, before any other maternity stuff.  They have good ruching on the sides, so they don't look super baggy in the belly area.

This! I bought a maternity tank top at Old navy and love it! I bought a few regular ones and they're already was too short!

  • I totally did this for my first pregnancy and it worked great. I got a few maternity tanktops too (love Target!) and i wore them all after pregnancy. IMO tanktops are one of those things that you can wear before, during, and after pregnancy without ruining them (unlike my sweaters lol). I would recommend the maternity tanktops just because they are my favorite of all the ones Ive tried.

  • I've never owned a maternity tank top... I always buy long ones (I'm tall anyway so my pre-preg ones usually do the trick).

I have wondered this forever.  I'm 5'11" but that's all legs.  I love summer with capris!

I have a love affair with the ON maternity tanks. They are super comfy, flattering and leave room for outward growth. :)

You should be fine.  Also, Target makes super long tank tops:)

I have the target ones and wore them all the way up to 40wks. They were also great afterwards for breastfeeding since they are super stretchy.

Amazingly they retained their shape and despite holding my humongous belly in, fit great when I'm not pregnant without looking all stretched out.
