July 2011 Moms

I love this age!!!

DD is just so much fun right now! I wish I could freeze time and keep her just how she is, except that it's so fun watching her learn new things every day.

She recently started giving me kisses when I'm cuddling her before bedtime. I'll be standing in her room with her, patting her back with her little head on my shoulder, and once in a while she lifts her head and gives me a big wet kiss. Well then before her nap today she started to do that, then turned her head away really fast when I went to kiss her and started laughing! Little stinker!!

It's also so cute the way she's starting to communicate with us. She learned the sign for "more," and just today she even started making the sign when she's not already sitting at the table eating. So I guess to her it doesn't mean "more," it means, "Feed me!!"  And she shakes her head no, especially when she's going towards something she knows she's not allowed to have! We have to try so hard not to laugh, since she is doing something we're trying to teach her not to do.

I can't believe this is the same girl who was once so tiny, who would lay in one place and just look around. Now she goes non-stop and has such a big personality! :)

Is this anyone else's favorite age too?

Re: I love this age!!!

  • I kind of feel the same way. DH and I get such a kick out of Saoirse because she is so funny. We were trying to have a serious conversation about something yesterday and we couldn't concentrate because she was playing with a musical toy and dancing her a$$ off, wiggling her butt and shaking her head around.

I do look forward to when she can run around and play hide and seek, stuff like that. I have worked with babies and children for many years and always liked the 12-24 month age the best, but I have a feeling that whatever age she is in I will always think is my favorite.

That being said, when she is awake at 2:00am and is crying "mamamamama" from her crib, I kind of want her to be 3 or 4 years old so I can just tell her to go back to bed and be quiet! Stick out tongue

  • Dear sweet Jesus yes. Up until now she was a super high needs must be held 24/7 or else she screams bloody murder baby. Now that she is crawling, I'm able to start doing things with two hands again.

But she's also small enough to look like a cute baby. Best of both worlds.

It is a super sweet age. Like you said, they are learning new things every day, and it's just so fun. But, I always think that every "age" is my favorite, and that it can't get any better, so...we'll see! :)

I absolutely adore this age, but so far, I think I still loved the newborn stage best :) I could just hold her and cuddle her all day while she napped a ton. I love that.

    I agree with you completely!

  • I'm with you!  I told DH a couple weeks ago that this is the first time in DS's life I'd really love to hit the "pause" button if I could.  He's so much fun, yet still affectionate and will still cuddle.  It's the best of both worlds.  :)
