Roller coaster of a day-a little long

So today was big IUI #1 day! : )

I'll try to keep this short, basically hubby's first specimen wasn't great. The doc didn't tell us the number, but he said it was really small. He said we could either go ahead with the small sample or try to collect another one. That seemed really counter-intuitive to what we have been told all along (only do it every other day, etc), but it was worth a try. So I went with him this time and we found the playboy stash So when we get called back the second time we are told that his post wash number was 2 million!! 2 million folks! That is the most he has EVER had! Ever! Needless to say we were thrilled.

But then the real fun started because the nurse couldn't find my cervix. So the doc came in and tried and kept saying things like "well that's the shyest cervix I have ever seen" and "it keeps moving on me" all of which translated into a lot of time with strange things in my privates.

But they finally got it in there (super weird to feel the stuff go in!) and now I'm home watching the Bachelorette!

Here's to everyone else starting their 2ww, I'm hoping that all the drama at the beginning means good things to come

Good luck!!!!

I'm going in for IUI # 1 hopefully in the next few days so its interesting you mentioned that about your cervix. I have had problems with my cervix cooperating for other procedures (saline sonogram, HSG) so I'm wondering if the IUI will be the same. Was it uncomfortable?

Also - I just finished watching the Bachelorette too ... it's my guilty pleasure.

I enjoyed reading your post because we did our first IUI on Sunday and our post wash count was also 2 million. At the time, I was really bummed, but to see you excited about it got me excited about mine too!

My nurse also had a hard time with my cervix, calling it "high"..I've never had a problem with a pap before but I guess this is a little different huh? Good luck to you!

I would prepare yourself for it to take a little longer than you would think and it's pretty darn uncomfortable. But while it felt like it took 20 minutes, I think he was in and out in less than 5 so that's probably not bad. I keep telling myself that childbirth is worse so I can do this!

I didn't think I would love Emily on the Bachelorette as much as I do! I hope this works for her!

lol I know that the count is still low compared to normal, but his post wash count the last 2 times were below 1 million so we have to celebrate the little stuff in this crazy IF world right? And it only takes 1!

Fingers crossed for you! We had our first IUI yesterday & the nurse had a hard time finding my cervix too. I was like I guarantee you its in there! But I barely felt a thing, other that the manipulation of the speculum.

I'm right there with you on the drama! My first IUI was so easy so I thought this one would be too. I guess that every time can be different. Good luck and fingers crossed!

Thanks for the info! That's kind of what I was thinking because even paps are extremely painful for me. But I agree, whatever I have to do, I am totally OK with because I really want to have a child

Oh my goodness what a roller coaster! I'm glad that it all worked out in the end...praying for you!!
