NC POLL: What small things feel huge to you?

What seemingly little things feel like a big deal to you?

Audrey's bangs are in her eyes daily.  I keep pulling them back attempting to keep them out of her eyes because I'm just not ready to cut her hair.  I have no idea why.  A couple of people have commented on it.  Honestly though, it doesn't seem to bother her, so it doesn't bother me.  Getting her hair cut just seems like such a big deal.  I keep saying I'll cut it when she turns 1.  We'll see....

Another: I said I start adding a little WCM to her bottles to get her used to it and avoid going cold turkey when my stash runs out.  Well, she turned 11 months on Friday.  I just can't do it.  My new goal is to wait until I only have 2-300 ounces in my freezer.  Then I will mix it.  We'll see....

So what about you?

I dont have anything to add but I am with you on both. DH keeps asking when I am going to cut LO's hair b/c its always a fight for 15 mins to comb it.  I just cant do it.  The 15 min daiy fight does not bother me enough to entice me to cut it.

Same with WCM/Almond milk.  I  have quite a bit of freezer stach but I know it wont last forever.  I can't imagine giving LO any other milk right now besides BM.

  • Mine is feeding related.

DD is still on a bottle then hour / hour an half later solids schedule.  I really want to start giving her solids, then a bottle to get her used to the transition at 1, but I'm afraid.  I don't want to mess up a good thing.  She's had weight issues and is finally gaining (and on high calorie formula) and sleeping so good, that I don't want to mess it up.  First I told myself I'd do it at 10.5 months, then 11 (which was Thursday) then I was going to start yesterday.  Now I've told myself I'll wait until we get the results of her testing back (I posted last week, she might have a kidney filtering issues which would be the cause of her failure to thrive).

Yesterday we were out when she should have gotten her bottle (11:30) and didn't get home until 12:30 so I gave her lunch while I unpacked groceries and then a bottle, and she did ok, but I'm afraid to do it for other meals.

  • Right now, pajamas! I swear I'm obssessing about looking for 12m footed pajamas. I look every time I'm at a target or anywhere, and I'm having trouble finding them. For some reason I look at the separates and short sleeved ones and think "she is not big enough for those yet!!"

I'm the same way with putting anything in her crib. I kind of want to introduce a security blanket, for I just can't let go of my "no blankets before 1" paranoia. I know in my head nothing magically changes at 12 months 1 day though!

Shoes.  I keep thinking, "My baby doesn't need shoes. He's too little."  He looks so grown up in them. He wears them to church or if we are out where he might want to be free and stand up by himself.  I may or may not be one of those moms people side-eye for taking the baby to Target without shoes.

Bahaha.  I'm trying to get over this way of thinking.  I don't know where I got it from in the first place.  However, now that A is walking full-time, I make sure she has shoes on when we go out.  I even bit the bullet and got her some $40 walking shoes from Stride Rite.

This was mine about a week ago but I bit the bullet and started adding WCM last Friday.  He doesnt even seem to notice a difference plus I have been giving it to him cold which is so much easier.  Plus I didnt have to worry about packing tons of milk on our day out Sunday.  When we ran out of BM I just ordered WCM at the restaurant.  It was so much easier.

I think I'm the opposite: huge things seem small to me lol. I haven't done much yet for Martin's party and it's on the 9th, I've had a blanket in his crib for months, I'd be introducing WCM already if it weren't for his MSPI, etc.

  • Changing DS over to a Sippy cup and taking his bottle away from him while he is in his crib.  Those two things seem huge to me and I really am in no rush to do it, although I know it will need to happen soon.

  • I'm terrified of weaning off the bottle and on to sippies of WCM.  A.) He eats A LOT Of formula, b.) He's still my baby!!!  Also, I really have no idea how to go about doing this!  It doesn't help that he still really only eats purees.  We give him finger foods every night, and he eats puffs and cheerios at DC, but he can't quite figure out the swallowing part, and stores everything in his cheeks until he tries swallowing it all, subsequently throwing up!
  • I'll echo Telly. The whole transitioning to WCM and solid foods seems so daunting. I can't imagine DD getting in all the nutrition she needs in a day! It's funny because breastfeeding used to seem so overwhelming! Now I wish BM was enough to sustain her for a few more years! ha ha.

  • I don't have anyone that I feel comfortable leaving DD with and I don't know how to go about finding a person. I don't really consider it a small thing, but it's what's on my mind right now because at some point I would really like to at least be able to go to dinner and a movie with DH for some couple time.

  • I really don't want to take away his bottle all together.  My pedi said most babies are completely rid of it by 15 months.  They just make him so happy :(

C has been SO fast in everything mobility related, bottles are like my last ditch effort to cling to his babyhood.  Because in all honesty, he's just not a baby any more.
