Just pondering if my wild and crazy son will eventually turn into a responsible, boring (jk) first born like his mother and father, so got me thinking, where are you in the birth order, and do you fit the stereotypes?
I actually have a "dual birth order" as I am the baby, but my next oldest sibling is 16 years old. At times I fit the last born stigma, but most often I fit the only child mold in being a type-A perfectionist, taking the lead/responsibility (even for my older siblings now that we are all adults), and being the one that my parents (only mom now that dad's gone) rely on when they need assistance.
I am the first of three. I would say I fit the normal first baby stereotypes- Type A, perfectionist, when younger bossy- now I would call it articulate and direct
I am the oldest, and for the most part, I do fit the stereotype, especially as a kid. And my brother definitely had fit the "baby" stereotype, though I don't think we do as much now, especially him. Unless the stereotype of youngest child is a sullen, wannabe-redneck who wants to live alone in a cabin in the woods.

That's totally my uncle (mom's youngest brother)! Maybe we are on to something...
ETA: Except he IS a redneck and DOES live in a cabin in the woods. He's livin' the dream!

Aw, my brother would be so jealous. He is still young though, maybe he'll get there one day
I have 2 roles.... My mom was married before marrying my dad and had my two sisters with my ex. Then married my father so I am the youngest to my mom. I am definitely babied more than my sisters. My daughter is also babied more by my mom that my niece and nephew.
My parents then divorced. My dad was remarried and he and my ex-step mom (confusing, I know!) had my little brother. So to my dad I'm the oldest. I fit the oldest role as well. Responsible, levelheaded kid.
I never refer to my sisters or brother as half whatever. They are just my sisters and brother. Most of the time I dont feel like getting into the marriages and divorces conversation.
I am the baby and only girl (one brother). I am the responsible, boring one. My brother never fulfilled his role as oldest and was a temper tantrum thrower well into his teenage years. Now he is finally a responsible person but only because he married the youngest by 4 who has never been told no in her life. I guess if you find someone more irresponsible than you, you tend to straighten up.
I married the quintessential forgotten middle child who put himself through school and never asked for anything while his brothers are still getting money from mommy and daddy in their 30's.
I'm an only child. I guess the stereotype of that is a spoiled brat, which I don't consider myself to be.
Same here.
Me too. I will say that my parents did pay for a lot of stuff for me though and it was hard for me to learn that I needed to pay for my own things and be more responsible. Once I finally got my own job and had to pay rent when I was 19, I learned that lesson. Though, I know lots of people like that and they aren't only children.
It really depends, due to my parents both remarrying which introduced step brothers and my oldest brother dying. I'm the oldest, but 2nd born or alternately the middle child between all step brothers.
I am the younger of 2 (I have an older sister) and we are the opposite of the birth order stereotype. She is irresponsible and lazy, always relying on other people to "save" her. I am strong and independent, always have been. We are so night and day in personality you would swear we were raised by different people, but we are only 2 years apart and our parents treated us the same. I love her, but she pisses me off most of the time with her selfish nonsense.
Oldest. I think I fit. I wouldn't call myself Type A, but I am definitely responsible and a planner and I tend to take care of others and try to help fix problems.
I am kinda the oldest and kinda a middle child since I am a twin and we are the oldest but I was Twin B so I am the younger one. My twin is TOTALLY classic oldest child - very responsible and motherly. When we babysat in the neighborhood, she saved all her money and wrote on her calendars # of hours and $$ she got. Whereas I....just spent it. I am the "fun" twin but got in more trouble. She was no fun, but was an angel. She's a HS math teacher now, haha.
My brother is the only boy and the youngest (11 years younger than me) and he still lives at home and hasn't finished his associates degree at community college yet after 5 years. Whereas me and my sisters were at Colgate and BC earning our good grades, etc. My parents are enablers for him though, annoying!!

Oldest. And I definitely fit the stereotypes with one exception~ I am by no stretch of the imagination a neat freak. My middle child husband however, is.

Youngest. DH is the youngest too, but he and his sister are almost Irish twins, so I don't know how that affects the stereotype.
Im sure I fit the stereotype on a few things. I enjoy being center of attention.

I'm the oldest of four. I have a bit of the perfectionist, bossy side, but I'm in no way a Type-A personality. I'm a pretty laid back person.
DH is the youngest of four. He definitely always had his parents do everything for him, so now he sort of relies on me to do everything too.
