... That I am sure have been asked a thousand times so bear with me ![]()
I was pushing it out until 6 months (she's been fine on BM, weoght gain is beaitiful and she is satisfied after nursing for 3-4 hours like normal) but DD has been super interested in food lately and my FIL's family had been giving her tastes of things at camp this weekend... So I caved and we just tried carrots a little while ago. (went straight to purees) I did it right between nursing sessions like our pedi said to but I don't know how much to give her! ... I swear she would have eaten the while container if I'd let her! So how much/how do I know she's done? Oh and do you burp them after eating? How long is it to test for allergies, 3 days? Neither FI or I are allergic to any foods, does that matter? Does the waiting period mean I can't feed her at all or just not another food?
Thanks!
Re: Some silly solids questions...
Our pedi said it really isn't necessary to wait 3 days if there isn't a family history of food allergies. He said 1-2 days was good. But if you want to/your pedi says you are supposed to give carrots for 3 days in a row and then switch to another food and give it for 3 days and so on.
I give DD 1/2 a container for now, she would definitely eat more (probably a whole container or more) but when I was giving her more she wasn't wanting to drink enough formula.
I don't burp her. She burps on her own.
To answer by what we have done: (and congrats on the next milestone!!)

As for how much to give her, we do 1/2 a container right now, but we also give rice cereal. If you are just doing purees, I would say you could give her the whole thing, but check with Pedi...
I burp my LO after eating because she has some gas issues and I don't want to risk her getting an upset tummy. She also has a bottle after the food, so I usually wait and burp her after all of it is over. She gives some good ones.
Our Pedi told us to try for about 3 days with the same food. So carrots 3 days in a row, then move on to something else. If you want to mix, once you are "cleared" with a food, you can keep feeding that one and add another one. For example, you could do carrots and if they clear then on day 4 give carrots AND peas...make sense?
I don't think it matters that you and DH don't have allergies. She could.
Good luck!!
