I did black beans, soak over night (pick through them first and remove anything.not a bean or broken). Rinse in the morning and put in the crockpot, cover with two inches of water and cook on low for 8 hours. Then I just strain and put in ice cube trays with a tony bit of water and froze. I put one cube in the microwave for less then 30 seconds and they're ready!
