My boss was exposed to chicken pox..

My boss, who I've been working very closely with because am training her for my leave (I know.. training my boss?...but yeah)  Anyway her grandchildren, who she spent mothers day with on Sunday have chicken pox now!  All three of them!  Apparently its going around in their school.     They've been vaccinated but guess that didn't work out for any of them!

I had it when I was little and I'm sure I am probably immune to it now but still.. now I'm all itchy just thinking about it. Now she's trying to decide if she should go get a shingles vaccine.  

Crossing my fingers that she doesn't have anything to give to me an baby!

    I know my OB checked me when I first got PG to see if I was immune.  Maybe you could call and see if they did the blood test it will let you know if you are considered immune or not.

    I think most doctors test to make sure you are immune to chickenpox in the first trimester. Just call and ask. I'm sure you are fine.

    Since you have already been exposed over the weekend, the vaccine wouldn't do you any good now. Like pp said tho, you could call your doc and ask if they checked. It may ease your worry. At this point you will either get it or not. Nothing you can do.

    The biggest question would be how long it's been. Like my sister had to get the vaccine because she was 3 when she got it. I was 16, and will carry the immunity for the rest of my life. (Guess how many years older than my sister I am, lol)

    They probably won't give you the vaccine while pregnant if you need it. Like PP said,  call your OB. Chicken pox is also a vaccine given to infants.

    Since you've already had the actual chicken pox, I wouldn't worry at all. If you had only had the vax, I'd be more concerned. I feel like all I ever hear about is people with the vaccine still getting chicken pox!
