NBR:Keurig People

Joe and Finley got me one for Mothers Day and I am finding it to be an obsession already.

What is your favorite K-Cup flavor? I just ordered a "flavored" variety pack last night from Amazon that has all the good sweet ones and am sort of on the hunt for one I love. I like a few of the ones that came with it already. The hazlenut and Donut Shop ones.

Where do you find the best deals on K Cups? I'm on the hunt for the best price per cup. I get Bed Bath and Beyond coupons occasionally and will go there but don't get that that often.

and last...I just ordered the ekobrew reusable cup so that it will be less wasteful and I can put my own stuff in to brew. I also just ordered a 16 oz bag of South African Rooibos tea which I know will brew fine because it's a leaf tea but what about the tazo tea bags I have here until the Rooibos comes in. Would breaking the bags open and pouring the tea in the ekobrew cup be a problem. Maybe the grounds are too fine? Just wondering if anyone has used tea in the reusable cups that isn't loose leaf?

I figure this thing will be an awesome savings for us since I get starbucks about 2-3x a week and Joe picks up an energy drink on the way to work 5 days a week, terrible I know. We have both vowed to not get the Starbucks or energy drinks anymore and instead use the Keurig. Between my Starbucks and his drinks I calculated we were spending at the very least $90 a month on that stuff! Crazy! With getting the refillable ekobrew cup and really price shopping for k-cups I figure we can cut that down dramatically. Can you tell I'm excited? lol

  • I love flavored coffees! My favorite is Gloria Jean's Butter Toffee. I also like Folgers Gourmet Selections Vanilla Biscotti or Caramel Drizzle. I usually buy online from Amazon (in bulk) though the Folgers ones are available at my grocery store. Not the best price, but convenient. My BB&B used to carry Butter Toffee but they stopped :( Kohls also used to have a good selection of k-cups, but in my area at least, not anymore. Love the Keurig though!!

  • You're going to love it!  I haven't been able to cut down MH's Starbucks habit (except on weekends), but it's still totally worth it to us.

My favorite k-cups are either the Green Mountain Southern Pecan or the Golden French Toast (those are seasonal - only around the holidays).  I also like Doughnut Shop Coconut Mocha, but only sometimes because they're pretty sweet.  We also have an ekobrew and that's the best way I've found to keep the cost per cup down.

I can't help you on the tea question.

    Have fun!

  • We have a Keurig, but I only use it for tea. DH only drinks the Caribou Coffee Daybreak blend. If you get a 5 of of $15 coupon at BBB, that seems to be the best deal. If the blend/flavor you like is carried at Office Max, that's a good deal, too.

DH doesn't care for the My K-Cup thing. He says the coffee is weaker and it gets grounds EVERYWHERE (DH is already a naturally messy person, he doesn't need any help making a mess).

I would just use the Keurig to heat the coffee and add your tea bag to your mug. The finer grounds would go through the top and end up in your tea.

  • I love my Keurig...it is an obsession!!  I like the pumpkin spice and golden french toast for the flavored ones...or just the green mountain breakfast blend for plain.  We get ours from great lakes Navy base...cheapest, but not everyone can go to a military grocery store, so I'm sure that's no help...I hear Costco and Sams have deals when you buy in bulk!

    Happy drinking!!!

PS, the reusable cup thing is great...saves us a lot of money too since we can just use plain ole folgers :)

  • I love our Keurig! We like the regular coffees, but also get the vanilla iced coffee. If you like iced coffee, it is yummy! We had the reuseable insert until it fell to the bottom of the dishwasher and melted. Sad We usually get our k-cups at Costco (you can get 80 cup boxes) and Kohls (they have pretty good sales).

    Enjoy!

  • Love my Keurig. It's one of my best friends and some days I think it's my best friend (like when both kids are up all night). Right now I'm all about making iced coffees. I just buy a huge box of k cups at Costco. Costs about $30 for 80 I think? Also, a cheap place to buy is at Bed Bath and Beyond with coupons.
  • We have the reusable insert too and we use it all the time for tea. We just leave the tea in the bag and stuck it in the cup, then run it as usual. It works for us.
  • Love love love my Keurig!  I am still nursing so I can't enjoy all the fun flavors I used to b/c of the caffeine but some of my faves were Island Coconut and Pumpkin Spice by Green Mountain. I also love the Sumatran Reserve for a stronger cup of coffee.  Right now I only drink the Donut House ones that I pick up at Target or BBB b/c I can find it in decaf.

Check out the prices on coffee cow...I haven't ordered from them in a while b/c I'm a slacker and I forget until I need coffee the next morning.  lol.

    Enjoy!

We love ours too!  We've found the best prices to be on Amazon. We also love Green Mountain. My favorite is their blueberry. Sounded awful at first, but it came in a variety pack so I tried it and fell in love...especially with vanilla creamer. :) The reusable tray is amazing!!  Have fun and enjoy!

  • I actual prefer the ones that are considered ice coffee (but really you could use any), I also love the Hot Chocolate ones, and then Breakfast blend.  My husband loves the machine more than I do, granted I also am not huge on hot coffee.

You can typically print up Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons or sign up for their club thing.  BBB and then somewhere like Costco, BJ's, Sam's are the best place's to go.  Enjoy, you will love it!

  • $30 for 80!? We need a Costco here Crying It's about 45+ minutes away (with no traffic).
  • Try comparing Big Cat Coffee prices.  We, too, don't have a Sam's Club, Costco, or BBB closer than 35 minutes away.  We order a whole bunch at one time to get the free shipping.  Let me know if you plan to order and I will send you an invite code via PM and we both get a percentage off our next order.
