1st Trimester

TMI, help...

Okay, so I can barely take it anymore! I am so constipated! I take the Colace but it seems that if I dont take it I just dont go! I dont want to keep taking it daily but I dont know what else to do. I eat oatmeal, apples, Im going to get grapes tomorrow but that stuff can only go so far. I am about 8 weeks and 2 day today. Can you ladies give any advice?

  • eat a lot of fiber! i recommend chia seeds or "all bran" cereal. the all bran worked really well for me! i ate it with some strawberries and milk.. have a glass of water after and my constipation was gone! as for the chia seeds, i take a spoon full a day just to keep things flowing well and i'm hardly constipated anymore. good luck!

  • I'm on Zofran and the constipation is so bad! I also take Colace and still only go to the bathroom every 3 days. My OB recommended milk of magnesia, so maybe try that? I haven't tried it yet but probably will soon.

  • When it gets bad for me, I drink a small cup of decaf coffee then chug water. So far it works but it is paired with a high fiber diet. Lots of fruit and veggies and benefiber in smoothies and soup make up most of what I eat.

  • Honestly, walk. Get moving, walk a lot. When I was having back pains as a result I found upping my fiber and water helped but once I started walking again (a couple miles a day) things really moved along.

  • I ate prunes last time. I'd eat and 2-3 with lunch.

  • I haven't been that bad in a while, but I've heard prune juice REALLY helps. If you put some in some orange juice a few times a day, then it should make a difference. And lots of vegetables and water. And I know that walking or light exercise will help get the plumbing moving.

  • I know they are probably full of sugar... but canned peaches work every time for me :-) Good luck!

  • I'm with you! After 5 Fiber One bars over the course of several days I finally went.  I'm going to try to eat one a day to hopefully keep up the fiber intake
